Anyone know about Beeeeeees
We have had a bee hive in a pepper tree outside our back door for years and this morning I came out to find this. Looks like Jones town.
Were these liberal bees that drank too much of the Obama Koolaid? Just kidding, but seriously, any idea what happened ? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301158894.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301158925.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301158953.jpg |

any pesticide spraying w/in a couple of miles of the hive recently?
pesticides, even if non-lethal, can weaken the bees defenses to viruses, etc. and lead to CCD as per post 2 |

Our fruit (mac nuts, avocados and oranges) is certified organic so we use no pesticides on the property. The surrounding groves and nurseries also tend to be organic so I would hope to rule out chemical contamination.
We have a few hives on the property to pollinate the groves so I hope this loss is limited to one hive and not wide spread. |
bees will fly 1,2,3 miles maybe to get pollen - that's why the usage by surrounding properties is important
try call UC Davis Agr. Ext. and talking to them |
When we use bees in filming we know that they will leave the hive and circle for a few miles and orient themselves and come back in a few hours. We have to plan for that.
