ATT Uverse, New Samsung 42" plasma: wont stay in Wide-zoom mode

Ok, it's bugged me enough to post a thread on it...Samsung can't help me (yet). Here's my issue.

My new garage TV is a 42" 1080p Samsung plasma, getting a cable source (non-HD) via an HDMI from my ATT Uverse cable box.

Picture it WANTS to display is about 30" or so, cropped on all 4 sides. If I go through either the screen size via Menu, or hit the Screen Size button on the remote, I can go to Wide-zoom which gives me a non-distorted 42" image which is what I want, but exactly 30 minutes later (I've timed it 2x) it'll default back to the 30" cropped screen again.

I've tried some varied outputs from my cable box & will try more tonight: but anyone have any other ideas?? I'm about to sell it & grab another brand...arrrg.

Mark

Weird, have you tried a coax input?

And I assume that you have the latest software update on the tv?

On my list to try tonight.

TV is only 3 months old...I guess I could check for an update.

If it's cropped evenly on all 4 sides it is getting an HD signal, just 720 and not 1080.

Not sure why it reverts back though. Sounds like it's in Scan mode, meaning it monitors the signal and adjusts to what it detects.

Try going thru the picture setup menus and see if there is a default that you can force to full screen.

Full screen is usually not the default as it will distort the older SD 4/3 aspect ratio.

How's your "zoom" setup on your UVerse? (all the way to the right on the UVerse menus).
