P2 electrical power; what is it?
I visited an airport expansion construction site scoping out the communications rooms and roof top provisions for radio antennas. When I asked if they were going to provide generator back up power for the communication rooms, they replied they will provide P2 power for the entire airport. He explained it is their own generator always operating.
Does this make sense? I'm not well versed in electrical terminology.

Possible that they are running a co gen system to offset electrical costs.
It is not unusual for larger facilities to be able to buy gas cheaper than they can buy power, so they burn gas, make steam, spin a turbine coupled to a generator. Will provide back up power for the facility if required. As an extra added bonus they usually fire absorption chillers with their "waste" heat.
