Color Laser Printer selection - I need recomendations

I need to buy a Color Laser printer to print a bunch of product labels. I'm looking for something economical over the long run. Preferably not physically huge.

Suggestions? ...

In the car, no model #'s, but I recommend Samsung. Not thrilled with HP these days.

How much do you want to spend? How many sheets of labels?

I've got an HP 2025dn. It's a color networked printer. I think you can get them for $300-$350. It works well.

What really kills on laser printers is the toner. The more consumer oriented, the cheaper the printer and the more expensive the cartridge per page. If you get a bigger more business oriented printer, the cartridges will print more pages.

I believe Kodak is doing it differently these days making the toners inexpensive (better in the long run), but I've never had a Kodak printer.

This is my second HP color laser, but both of ours have been sort of big and have run somewhere in the $350-500 range. Actually, I think we paid $350 for both, but the first one was on a huge sale, and that was probably 10-12 years ago.

Do some searches on places like zdnet and pcmag to see if they have any comparisons that have happened in the last 8-9 months or even better 4-6 months.

Strange, I was just about to take a look at this.

I need one that can do 11x17.

Best laser printers I've worked on were HP.

Dell

+1 on Dell. I have a 3115cn (network color laser/scanner/fax) and the thing has been bulletproof.

I actually had preferred HP until last year. I had noticed a few problems here and there and also read a number of bad reviews while looking for a couple of printers for a client.

Right now, I have two clients, both small office lawyers. One has the HP 2025dn like masraum the other has Samsung. The HP was recently retired after rejecting new toners and image drums. The Samsungs have been working like a charm, though I think the HP lawyer prints a bit more, but not much. Both are very high volume.

I'd recommend finding a model that suits your needs and reading up on the reviews. If they are favorable, go for best deal.

It is sad to see a company like HP that was just THE standard for good printers for so long make junk now.

Rick,

Dell 1355cn $299 (Scanner, Copier, printer, color laser) - I just had my sister get this one.
Dell 1135n $159 (Scanner, Copier, printer, B&W laser)

I have the big brother, the 3115cn. But these other 2 look excellent. I think I will be getting a 1135n (B&W) for my office.

Just bought 2 11x17 printers.

Picked up the HP 7000 and the Epson 1100.

Both do the job so far. The HP is networkable.

Went to Office Depot with a crappy old printer in hand ($50 instant credit), a $15 coupon, and my $60 credit per month for returning used ink cartridges and walked out with the HP for $ 97 including tax.

We buy the online aftermarket ink cartridges for $3 - $5 and get $3 back for each one from the Depot.
