Guitar pickup question
I have a Highway 1 Fat Strat which I like but I was thinking of ditching the humbucker and going with single coil at the bridge. I have an Epiphone Dot that I bought (2001 model so it's Korean which I hear is a better guitar than the current Chinese ones). Anyhow the Dot sounds sweet with the humbuckers so I was kicking around the idea of converting the strat to single coil.
Can I just put in a single coil pickguard with the pickups in it or it the body of the guitar different between a HSS strat vs a SSS strat?

You'll lose some of the functionality of the switch. Humbucker is 4 wire the single coil will be 2 wire. If the pups mount to the pickguard, then it's probably a fairly easy fit.

You normally pick up a guitar by the neck.

Have a tech put a "coil tap" toggle switch on the Humbucker in the Strat and you can have your choice of humbucker or single coil sound at the bridge without changing pickups.
