Identity Theft
I lost my wallet the other day, it was turned in, but my license and personal banking debit card were missing. Everything else was there.
Nothing was charged to the debit card and I've already gotten a new temp card. But I am concerned about identity theft now. License doesn't have SS# on it, but I imagine with the right connections and the right bribing, it could be obtained. Anyone go through this and what did you do about potential identity theft?

You can freeze your accounts thru the credit services (only 3 calls or emails). You can ask for new account numbers which won't affect your credit.
Paid identity theft services are nothing but cash cows for the providers. The worst one is Life Lock. All they do is freeze your accounts for you with a few add ons to make it look worthy. Sure, it works, but you can do the same for yourself. |

Contact all the credit agencies and put a lock on your credit. It is easy, free in most states. I did it on each agency's website. It blocks anyone from looking at your credit. At the onset of the lock the companies give you a pin number. If you need to get a loan, you go on their website, enter the pin and your credit can be temporarily unlocked. I suggest everyone do it. Most Id theft comes from other places beside the theft of a wallet.
