A Perfect End to a Perfect Week - my life is wonderful!
You know how sometimes EVERYTHING just falls into place?
This is how my week has gone... Monday I was officially appointed as the media liason/web admin/registrar for our district junior football league. I really wanted that job as the scope to make a difference is huge :). I can indulge my passion for writing and get to spend a lot of time with all the kids in the league. It goes hand in hand with my appointment as secretary of one of the junior clubs and the appointment as a delegate to the league. I attend Billy's (11) parent teacher interviews and receive his report...just fantastic. Nothing to complain about...at all. Tuesday, no 1 son Tom called home to inform us that he has landed yet another 'job of a lifetime' as a qualified chef at The Press Club in Melbourne. Money and conditions are fantastic and he will be reunited with a lot of people he has worked with before in the hospitality industry. At only 18 he is once again forging his own destiny...I am only half joking when I say to him 'young chef of the year' may be coming to him in the near future. Tuesday night I attended the first of many meetings with our politicians to find a way to build an outdoor pool here to replace the one that council demolished against the will of the community. We made a lot of ground at that meeting and things are looking brighter than ever before for a new state of the art 10 lane Olympic standard pool. Wednesday night I attend my first meeting as a high school councilor for Charlotte's school; another chance to make a difference. Fantastic school; dedicated school council. Thursday the mail comes in and Charlotte's school report arrives...she has been terrified about this as she has effectively leap-frogged a whole school year and missed year 8 entirely...she was certain it would be bad as she is playing serious catch up at the moment. Well bad it certainly was not...'excellents' and 'very goods' everywhere...second time I was in tears of joy for the week... Thursday night we had a committee meeting for the football club...the new committee has taken over from the disasters of the old committee and are breathing life back into a club that was left to languish. We are picking up stellar players by the handful at the moment as people see the positive work that has been done already. The kids are all smiling and the parents are willingly volunteering to fill rosters etc. I have had to chase NO-ONE to get things done - unheard of. Friday I get a phone call - offering me a position as Area Manager for the Australian Census in August. Big role spanning 6 or so months; but I can somewhat structure my hours around other work and community commitments...I choose my team; train them etc...of course I said yes! The P-car work is overflowing; all great jobs for nice people and all good cars...Mike couldn't be happier at the moment :). Then the cherry on the cake...Billy's tennis team cleaned up today in the Grand Final. They played the top team on the ladder; won 4 matches to 2 and by 8 games overall...Billy played 2 matches and won 4-0, 4-2 with his partners... I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about...I can't keep the smile off my face at the moment...life is good; really good....a bit more time to sleep would be great maybe...but that's all I can think of to whinge about :D. HOW LUCKY AM I??!! |
The unexpected happens,
Your seemingly impossible good now comes to pass! |
Bravo, Lisa. You are one busy mom!

Thank you :)
I am SO PROUD of our children...I'm bursting! My man; he quietly just gets on with things and achieves the impossible every day. He covers me at home whenever necessary; never whinges about the extra load I place on him with all the community stuff I do. We really have a great partnership; at work and at home :). I have a GREAT family...what more could I need? |
Good things happen to good people! Absolutely nothing wrong with that. ;)

Don't worry, this won't last. I'm certainly not a pessimist but everytime things go that good for me, something screwed up is right around the corner. Enjoy yourself!!!! Although, on second thought, maybe you're luckier than I am.:D

Looking at your post again makes me wonder. You got a lottery down there? Better go buy some tickets-QUICK!!!
|
Congrats!!
|
Larry,
Do you know how many times I have been 'there'? The times when everything seems to be going right and then BAM! The crap comes out of left field and socks you between the eyes...those times; I have lost count of those  But my mood is such that if and when that happens I'll just deal it out and move along...I am determined this year to not let it all get to me ;). We've had some really crappy years and this year is NOT going to be one of them! Lottery ticket is a very good idea...might replace the one thing I am sorely missing at the moment - another P-car :D...then I would need a bigger factory, a larger garage etc etc...better be a BIG lottery win :p! |

Lisa, it sounds like you and Mike have been good parents, and have taught your kids to be good at what they do. Hats off to you guys. You deserve to feel happy and proud.
|
Good on you Lisa.

Awesome!

Just reading your post made me smile, Lisa! Congratulations. As good as this week was, I don't think luck had anything to do with it. Sometimes everything you've been working hard for just all goes the right way for a change, instead of a predictable percentage of it going sideways.

Angela,
There was plenty of stuff that did go sideways through the week.., but it was all incidental and usual stuff - small. I solved most of it by throwing money at others to fix and got on with enjoying the moment. Stellar week...it will be hard to top for sure :). Yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours at the football club with the guys sorting out the mess. Ended up with a van full of stuff to add to the masses of footy club stuff already littering the house. CANNOT move in the loungeroom now! I have masses of little people's football jumpers and all sorts of other stuff here for sorting, washing etc before next week when we make the jumper presentations to the kids and put them in their teams for start of the season...still smiling and loving it! We have boxes of donations from the Australian Football League Clubs for goodie bags for the kids that we have to make up - it's so much fun going through all of it. Tomorrow it starts all over again - all day forum on rural lands use (our council just SUCKS and the farmers are furious so I'm going along to help them argue out the points as a Ratepayers Assn. rep.)...and then football league meeting...work gets done in between and everyone is happy :). |
