What do you think of the 24 Hours of LeMons?

24 Hours of Lemons - Home Page

Doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground on this.

I think it's great as long as one understands that there are those who take it way to seriously and those who don't take it seriously at all. Personally I think its a great event that has gotten a little bit tainted but all race series/classes seem to over a little time. Cheaters and crybabies should just be part of the expected entertainment of any racing.

I will be at the race this weekend with beer in hand and bbq flame'n while I watch the madness and heckle my friends of E.A.S.Y. while they flog the 914. I will be driving a beater for Octobers race- Yes a real beater and not some x-race car with a pro built motor. I will have a smile on my face even if my ride blows up and I turn slow laps.

I think this weekend will be a blast regardless of rain-

Jeff

THIS, is the proper way to enjoy a LeMons race.

dtw, and my wife, at the Capital Offense Ribfest, err I mean LeMons race. We were in the middle of a 60 rack smoking marathon.

I was going to write a long rant about my last LeMons experience, but I will sum it up this way:

It is fun if you don't take your self to seriously, laugh off the moron Judges, laugh off the guys who are spending countless hours and countless dollars to win 500 dollars in nickles, laugh off the guys who can't drive to save their lives, and enjoy it for what it is, an opportunity to run the hell out of a ****ty car on a track.

I knew I was smelling ribs ! I too had my team at Capitol Offense...man was it hot that weekend.
LeMons is a great way to have fun on track, and laugh at yourself and others. It should be a lighthearted event, but some are too serious and some whine too much. Turn a deaf ear to it and enjoy your experience. Virtually all racing is like that.

I wish the thing was about cars and racing, not costumes.

Six hours would probably be enough.

I voted "cool". In fact, if you need a driver next time, I'm just down the coast a little bit, near Half Moon Bay. Sign me up!

Voted cool, but only if you want to go and have fun. Being part of a team for 3 years it was fun but all they guys in my team was more about the cheap racing and less about the drama. Although, it was not a lot of fun when the rookie judge decided to let loose a can of expanding foam in our mechanics toolbox at our last event. Especially when it was filled with almost $3000 worth of Snap-On tools.

Believe me, it was very close. We almost withdrew the team from the race.

Mess with the car, mess with the team members, make us do stupid stuff, but they should not mess with someone's tools.

The themes and costumes are only during tech' the driver's meetings and award ceremony.
The racing is very real and the cars are very competitive.

Our next race is a 'true 24'~ 10am-10am.
At Reno-Fernley.

We just published an article on LeMons that suggests tech inspections are not what they should be...

I saw that.

Are you trying to actually win this race?

We got a 40 lap penalty on our first race.
I had a signed pink slip and bill of sale as a 'gift'.

It doesn't matter.
It's about having fun on track and driving clean.
