Where is the vin # on an early 90's honda shadow?
One of my neighbors recently bought a 93 shadow out of state. He asked me if I could verify the VIN # for him, has to be done by either a police officer, state inspector, or the Notary can do it on site.
I thought the vin was always right up on the steering head. I looked and looked up and down both frame rails, and all over the bike, the only thing I am finding is a decal on the lower part of the frame under the motor. It has a matching vin, but this tag was clearly put on after the frame was repainted. From my memory. the vin was either stamped into the frame, or there was an aluminum tag affixed. Looks as if something fishy is going on. He is a little salty, but I would not sign off on it, until I am positive it is legit.

My son has a 1995 shadow and it is on the steering head tube where the two bearings are for the triple trees. It is stamped in.

That is exactly what I thought. The frame was repainted, and someone filled in the VIN #'s. There is usually only one reason for something like that. That is exactly what I was fearful of. Looks like he may have a hot piece.
