New Bass Porn

My Thunderbird bass wasn't big enough, so I traded some gun work for this......now where is that Willie Dixon CD of mine..

Wow!!! That looks great! Look up "The Twistin' Tarantulas", their lead singer plays the stand-up bass and they played everything from Motorhead to Charles Mingus and Thelonious Munk.

We're going to be looking for a vintage cello for Becky this fall, if you hear of one, please let me know!

I spent last week at Victor Wooten's Bass/Nature Camp. Got to play some upright - was reminded how physical and fun it is. Then I also remembered the reality of hauling it to gigs and amplifying it

Awesome score though - I would love to pick another one up at some point.

I've seen him at NAMM twice and play live with Dennis Chambers, Bela Fleck and plenty of others. He is so good, it's just wrong.

It's full size, so it IS a beast. I figured that if piano players can have baby grands in their living room, I can have a dog house. I do enjoy playing it, although it will most likely never leave the house again.

Here's my newest contribution to bass porn, bought a week ago.

September, 1970 - a delicate transition time at the end of the first run of SVTs, with 6146 tubes AND a standby switch. The 'best' combo of features, in the eyes of some enthusiasts. Only needs a few detail things to be perfect.

and a fork lift to move it around. LOl. Although I do miss mine. Nothing sounds like an SVT.

You sure it is a 4/4? Those are pretty rare. Most "full size" are actually 7/8, and 3/4 is more common.

Is it ply, hybrid, or ?

I like this a lot more than an SVT (as does my back):

Could be anything as I know little about them. It's a hybrid. Came with a fishman that I will probably never use.

Ehh, I don't care because I never have to carry my own stuff.

It's mostly just gonna look nice sittin in the man cave next to "Ol'-Squeaky."

My guess would be 3/4. Keep the Fishman as you never know.

Love the B15. Closest I come with a VT pedal into the Streamliner. Though I won a SoundBlox bass distortion pedal at camp and I'm finding that pretty freakin' fun.

Shut up..you suck

It's mostly just gonna look nice sittin in the man cave next to "Ol'-Squeaky."

I saw that they reissued those now. $3900.00 ( but of course you can probably get one from Ampeg free too. ( you really would suck then)

They had a late '90's, early 2000's reissue that listed for $2xxx, and that's what this one is. It has a master volume and a 60/100 watt switch on it, and there's a tweeter in the cabinet, which of course stays turned off.

The new $3900 reissue is all point-to-point, hence the hefty price tag.

Man, is it just me, or do all those rock and roll stars just hoard the vintage amps?

I noticed this phenomenon in the liner notes on Tom Petty's Mojo album, now, Gogar's startin' to unveil his stash.

(PS- Targa911, fire up your bluegrass albums too! Willie would be OK with that, I'll bet!)
