Looking for famous Peter Max image

Well, I think it was by Peter Max back in the 60's. This image was a girl sitting or lying down, on a crescent moon. You young guys likely have never seen it. I need it for a project and I've searched Google for a few hours. You used to see it on T shirts, Harley gas tanks, posters, etc.

Anyone know what I'm even talking about...and/or where I can find the image ?

Peter Max was the Yellow Submarine guy. Maxfield Parrish was the artistic babes in nature guy.

Not sure if that is any help.

I was thinking Maxfield Parrish. Unless you thinking of the gal on the Miller Beer bottle..

I did see that gal on the Miller bottle... I'll search for Maxfield Parrish....thanks...

Just searched his stuff....I remember it but nothing close to what I need... I'll find something similar and it'll be OK...

I remember the image distinctly but I still think of myself as "young". Maybe it's time to reevaluate. :(

Dogface- I have a Peter Max from the 1992 Grammys that sounds a little like what you are talking about- kind of a spacey vibe with a purple background but it looks more like the earth than the moon. You might try to find it on Google images.

Drdogface 04-07-2011 02:53 PM

Thanks guys....the image I recall is definitely a crescent moon with a pin up sitting on it.

Hey Bro...we're as young as we feel :)

I found something similar to what I was asking about. Here is my project....yes, I have way too much time on my hands :D

LED light strip around the inside of the rim

I need to tuck the cords outta the way...

It might be by an old Art Deco artist named Erte.

Something like this?

That's a good guess.

He needs to post something of similar style or we could go on guessing forever.

How about some Rodney Matthews ?

You say that like Erte was little more than an amateur.

xbrumossalesman 04-08-2011 02:04 PM

No disrespect intended- just didn't want to sound like a know it all since I don't have any of his work.

Drdogface 04-08-2011 02:51 PM

Shifter: That's not the exact image but very close to what I remember.

you may also want to try Frazetta and Vargas.

Sure it wasn't a Moonalice poster? Moonalice

What a cool banjo. Do you play?

Drdogface 04-09-2011 07:17 AM

Yeah, I play and am not too bad but I'm not a pro or performer. Just do it to entertain myself and my dog mostly. Also around the campfire, etc.

Craig: I love the top two and will download and likely change to one of them....Thanks !
