Statistical Software
Being a multiple 6-Sigma alumni, I was usually allowed to keep mini-tab on my computer. Since I am no longer employed by others, I will need to get something myself.
OK, there is Mini-Tab. What else is out there, and I'm looking for something hopefully easier to use and graphically well done. And cheaper. |
About a million years ago I had mini-tab for my MBA. The student version was cheap. Not sure today.

Both Free and free, well documented, multiple platforms. Showed it to my stats teacher last fall, mentioned the Free redistribution, he changed his course materials from using minitab to R |
also there are some plugins for Excel that can be useful for quick & dirty stuff
|
I have an old version of MiniTab (Release 8) on 3 1/2 floppies and the books that I could send to you if you need them. I have no use for it...

I rewrite a lot of stuff that was originally written in SAS.
SAS seems to be good at pulling data from multiple places and coalescing it together and getting something quick and dirty to run. It also seems to be very tolerant of inconsistent or missing data. It's syntax seems kluge as hell to me. My job has occasionally involved taking a SAS program and rewriting it (in another language) to make it fast, efficient, and workable in real time. I'm actually rather proud of some of the technology I've developed. |
mini-tab !?! ...why am I imagining a Munchkin-voice saying "he told all you boyz, just last year ...
