When I was in Saudi Arabia, during Desert Shield/Storm, many of the middle eastern guys thought it was great fun to smoke hashish from the "hubbly-bubbly"(hookah), then smash their white Chevy Caprices into each other, followed by shooting rifles and pistols into the air. This was a regular event.... strange custom...

Yes. I went to a wedding once in Syria. All the men had automatic weapons that they fired into the air at random. I was given an AK 47 so I could join in. There was a lot of Johnnie Walker being drunk. Guys dancing line dances while firing their weapons all over the place. Scary stuff. You really had to keep on your toes. This happens all the time.
