I have an E46 M3 as my DD. I would love to put that S54 engine in a CSL or 2002.
Those flared out 2002's that you guys are posting are making me drool.

Yes, they are the 40 DCOEs! I really like the 190SL, such great lines. ;)

Good for you Mike! It looks fantastic!

I did the same, sold everything I had of value to buy my '02 and took it with me to the community college (while in still in highschool).

Unfortunately, it had accident damage hiding under >1" of bondo...

Before:

After:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1399086467.jpg

Soon after, I sold the car to an extended family member to help pay for school. It was given to his 16yr-old for his b-day. It was not cared for...

------------------Fast forward ~17 years---------------------

This was taken last week . The city dragged it off their property as it was in violation of the Derelict Vehicle By-Law.

My brother happened to be driving by and snapped this pic:

Sorry for the highjack. Keep up the good work. You will be glad you have these skills for many years to come :)

Happy with the transition.....From this....

To this....

and it only took me 4 years ;)

911FASCINATION 05-24-2014 09:09 PM

Absolutely gorgeous car, Mike. Four years isn't bad at all-I know a few people who are taking 10 years plus to finish up restorations, real life seems to get in the way...

mmastro 08-11-2014 08:39 PM

Still color sanding & buffing....but getting closer to reassembly.

Lecture (sometimes) at 530-600 and then ~3-4 hours of hands-on shop time to work on your ride. The cost is $120 for the class and a $20/car shop fee for doing body work all semester and another $20/car when you shoot the color on it. I'm on my 2nd semester now (will most likely need a third). Learning alot!

Dang, the car looks great.

A lot of those instructors are day time regional occupation canter instructors for the county or LA city school. I use to know of a Mr Rodriguez that taught auto body in a High School in East LA. At one time they ran night classes for the local communities. I like to know if this is the same guy. He must be in his late 50s or early 60s by now.

I am just glad they haven't cut those type of classes yet

mmastro 05-05-2015 10:36 AM

I asked him and he said he never taught in ELA. He was mostly in shops and dealerships.

I had the chance when I was 18 to buy one for $300. The guy wasn't sure if the mileage was 200k or 300k but this thread only shows how much an idiot I could be as a teen. I bought a large V8 GT car instead.
