Best comfy Las Vegas resort for mature adults

Ok... maybe using me and "mature adult" in the same post is an oxymoron.

Being a native So Cal boy I have made many pilgrimages to sin city in my youth... did the whole sleep deprivation and over consumption thing many many times.

However now that I am over cough the big five oh cough comfort and leisure is more on my mind.

Wife has never been to LV and has a bad back so some place with good beds is a must... something with nice size rooms... pool would be nice but not one packed with 20 somethings and loud music.

A dozen resorts have opened up since I have last visited so not sure where to look.

Trump looks nice.

On the strip is not a must (I prefer Fremont street but think the wife will want to see the strip) however something with a free shuttle or near the monorail so we can get out and see the sites.

Any suggestions?

You don't want to stay at the Hard Rock or Hooters if you don't like loud 20-somethings at the pool. Best hotel bed I ever slept in was at Cesar's.

The MGM grand has three towers back behind the main hotel casino. Signature i believe. They are condos, some are privately owned and others are rented via the resort.

Great rooms, good pool access and you essentially on the strip but not in the middle of the nonsense.

Last summer my family stayed at the Signature at MGM Grand. Very nice, quiet, and a short enclosed walk to the main MGM Grand. Many restaurants, and too many pools to count that vary from quiet relaxing environment to busy trendy 20 something crowds. The monorail on this side of the strip is not free.

My brothers stayed at the Aria Hotel. Very nice place. It is the other side of the strip from the MGM Signature and has the monorail (free) that goes up and down the strip. The rooms were fresh and modern. This is also an MGM property.

The Wynn. It's "mature"... Love the hotel, hate the vibe. Half of the patrons need embalming.

Not the Tropicana! I stayed there when I went for the SEMA show last fall. It is under renovation and though the rooms are nice the price isn't that great and their aren't many amenities. Restaurants closed at 10! I like MGM and Mandalay, but it's a bit of a hike from Mandalay to anywhere. You have to take a free monorail up to Excalibur, walk across the strip and all the way to the back of MGM to get to the main monorail. The monorail costs $5 a day or $5 round trip, I don't remember.

I have stayed at the Mirage, Imperial Palace, Riviera, Sahara (closing May 16th btw), Golden Nugget, Hilton (29th floor suites), Bally’s, Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, New York, Alexis Park, Hampton Inn Airport. & several defunct ones. The rooms are all the same with varying degrees of decrepitude. Some have nice lobbies & restaurants but scratch the surface & they are all the same.

If I wanted to do it right, the Four Seasons would get my dollars. Or the Bellagio Villas if I really wanted to do deluxe.

I was just there - again - last week. Nice steaks at Del Frisco's & very good food at Aureole fwiw.

Thanks Ian... will check out the four seasons.

Also looking close at The Hotel Mandalay bay and Signature @ MGM.

Downsides, Mandalay looks not to be close to much else. Signature reviews some complain about it being a fifteen minute walk to food/casino.

Thanks for the replies!

I agree with Ian - if you have the bucks the Four Seasons is the best - and if Luther is still the door man at night - he is the very best guy on the strip.

Trump isn't bad, they have tiny kitchens which is nice - and the bathrooms are really nice - we bubbled (using bath bubbles from the bath store in the mall across the street) up the jet tub when I stayed there and got the bubbles up to 5 feet above the edge of the tub. But it is a ways back off the strip - you can always walk through the Fashion Mall to get to places though. They have only one somewhat pricey restaurant and no casino (which I think is a good thing) - but there are a ton of restaurants at the mall -

Choice * Dignity * Privacy * Independence

Personal Preferences Program

When every provider offers the same basic services and the same promise of independence, choice, and dignity, what sets one community apart from another? BPM Senior Living believes the answer cannot be found in a marketing brochure, but in tapping each resident’s personal preferences

BPM has established a full-time Personal Preference Coordinator (PPC) at each community to root out residents’ preferred routines, hobbies, special dates, meaningful activities, food choices, and preferences regarding their care. From the day they enter the community, residents have a designated advocate for their “druthers.” The PPC is required to gather each resident’s highest priorities and make them happen, from bathing at an odd hour to pursuing a favorite hobby.

While many companies use “resident interest” forms to get to know a new resident and meet their basic preferences, BPM requires the PPCs to go well beyond that. For example, if making pottery is a resident’s thing, then BPM will either add it to the calendar or recommend another outlet, such as a city-sponsored class. “If it’s at all possible, it needs to happen,” says Kris Brock, director of health services administration.

PPCs also are held accountable each month for coordinating a special surprise or “wow moment” for a resident. “What is a wow moment? It’s not the fact that we had a St. Patrick’s Day party this month. That’s not a wow moment,” explains Brock. In one wow moment, a PPC arranged for a miniature horse to visit the bedside of a hospice resident with dementia who had been passionate about horses all her life. The resident spent one of her last days stroking the horse’s nose. The press was not alerted. “We don’t use these wow moments for marketing,” says Brock. But such gestures clearly touch residents, families, and staff, and have enhanced their word-of-mouth reputation, Brock adds. “Every resident deserves wow moments.”
