Saw a new Fiat 500 today, Yuck!

OK, the originals are cool, but this new thing is not.

Make something like a Smart that looks sporty and add some graphics to it, that does not make it cool.

Blech!

They are really tall and ungainly looking like the Smart cars.

This is just about the only way that they are cool.

I guess this one is OK, but only if it has enough fun quotient and performance to back up the looks.

I also saw a Brabus Smart car a few weeks back. That didn't make the Smart any better either.

These are cool
I'd have one.

But not nearly as cool as this

I saw a red one on the freeway last week, he got on, had to pass me, then pulled over into another lane. I guess he was just showing it off. Saw one at Cars & Coffee in Irvine a few weeks ago, it looked pretty good.

In before spontaneous Mustang derailment

They don't look too bad for a small city car. I might be a little nervous on the highway in a car of that size though.

I might have been doing 80, I wasn't in the fast lane, but he sure went 80 when he went by. I wouldn't feel good in it at that speed.

Better in a Fiat than a Smart...

That one looks as if it would have a fairly high fun potential.
Goofy looking car though.

I want an old mini with an integra type R drivetrain in it. Saw one in a magazine once.

All that mini nimble with 200 hp, maybe a bugey with an S 2000 driveline, got a ride in Datsun 510 once and it was pretty groovy

I dig little bitty cars with stupid power. The new 500, not so much

the car's a blast. great MPG, more space then a Mini, cheaper than the Mini, tons of great standard features. i feel completely safe in the car at highway speeds. when the abarth comes out, i'll probably buy one of those.

it's not even in the same class as a smart car. the 500 is bigger, more powerful, has more standard features, a backseat, etc. the only thing that's similar is MPG, and I just did 360 miles on 9 gallons of gas, for an average of city/highway of 40mpg. Highway has been averaging over 44.

Masraum - I am sure I saw the same one in Houston yesterday heading south on 45.

Did nothing for me.

A lovely, lovely, little car. I'm definitely interested. Make mine an Abarth please.

Doug if you want to inform the world you're gay, a simple rainbow sticker in the back window of your current car will suffice.

Or just buy a used 928.

This is the first I've heard of the 500 being a gay car. Is there no man's commuter car that does great on gas and is fun to drive? Woe is me.

But no, I just do not care. I still like it and if enough "men" buy them the image will all work out in the end.

I think that is the best car on the market right now. Great MPG/size with what I think is a great quirky sense of style.
