Got some new steel tested with the .308

PM me if you are in CA and are interested...
A friend and I found a guy in Fresno who can get very very good prices on AR500 steel for making targets.

He sold each of us a 30x18" 3/8 (Standard IPSC) silhouette for $150 each (with stands!).

We got them lugged up a hillside out on some local BLM land and spend the afternoon working on MILDOT ranging and holds. Man, there is something very gratifying about shooting steel!

We are desperately searching for some public land that will let us stretch our legs, so to speak, as this spot is only good for 400-500 yards.

Very nice. What kind of range are you shooting in the above video?

Start a business. Have him cut them the same size as a USPS flat rate box and sell them on Ebay and various gun forums.

I know I would buy a couple, what had kept me from it is the shipping cost.

And yeah, steel is a lot of fun. Hammering the 300 yard gong with a 70 year old rifle and 60 year old ammo:

i'm jealous, the most i can find is a 100 meter range.... Belgium is way to densly populated for that kind of distances...

One of my close friends is the only American inducted into the Order of the Flanders!

Belgians know how to shoot.

Lol, i guess that's why we got JMB to come live with us !

all kidding aside, not quite sure what the order of flanders is... cause our Royals aren't Flemish, and as such no order (typically royal, or noble) i know off would be Flemish... we are distinctly un-royal

this ? Masters of Flanders ?

shizzle, that's VSK , our club moved to FROS which is another shooting union...
either way, i've only been going since december , trying to recapture my yought (learned to shoot at 7, but shooting here is not so obvious,)..depending on when i go, and my mindset, best i've managed so far , was vostok .22 single handed pistol, @ 25 meters... grouping of about 4 inches.. average score is 149/200... the regular competition shooters are 175 +.... top dog is military instructor, dude does 195/200 withouy breaking a sweat, he's going to the world wide military shooting compitition next year in Brazil... At least i got instructed by a pretty good instructor

But must be said, my 149 is with club beater pistol, haven't got my own shooter just yet...
I'de like an springfield armory M1911 and an M1a, i like those very much.

for shooting long range when ya dont got the room..................make the targets SMALLER to simulate 1000yds.

leupold is now etching their scope knobs for elevation on the mark 4's with 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-1000. i think they can do others vari x 3's and vari x-4's. call and check them out. they can also put mil dot reticles in scopes that dont have them.

set lazer range finder on gadaffy-duck or errant zombeez, read off lazer range finder yardage/meters and click the elevation to whatever range, hold dead center if no wind, and KA-BLAMMO..........................................TI NK!

I've never liked steel pistol targets, and try not to go to ranges that use them.

Every once in a while, someone gets shot and killed by a ricochet off a steel target.

I want no part of that.

Heck i've been hit by ricochets off of indoor range backstops. Got hit in the chest with a 115gr+P Sierra Corbon 9mm round that left a BIG bruise on my chest for about 2 months. It felt like i got punched in the chest by a middleweight boxer when it happened. My brother who runs that range has a big divot out of his eyebrow from a ricochet off the backstop too.

For 50m or greater though, I reckon they're plenty safe- but make absolutely sure you wear safety glasses any time you're shooting at steel.
