A "funny" exchange at lunch...
It's a nasty, miserable rainy day, so I ventured over to a local Mexican restaurant for lunch (almost everyone there is native it seems.)
Cute waitress: What will you be having? Me: I think I'll go with ACP today. (Arroz con pollo) Her: Would you like beef or chicken? Me: (with a slight pause) chicken Her: Rice or beans? Then the "light bulb goes" off and we both giggled like school girls and didn't stop everytime she returned. I tipped her well...made my day

For others' edification, I'd ordered "Arroz con pollo" for years, (pronounced correctly, and even with my southern drawl I've had wait staff ask if I spoke spanish), and invariably they always repeat ACP, so somewhere along the line I began ordering it that way (and I've never been served a plate of .45s). ps: I did order an omelette one time with: eggs, cheese, bacon, and mushrooms...felt a bit redundant in hindsight (sorta like Art). I have a really bad habit at restaurants. I'll order a steak and the waitress always asks the same thing, "how would you like that cooked?"
I always reply, "sure, that'd be great". The wife doesn't think it's funny. |
