Fiat Abarth 2000 over 400hp??

So I had my Lancia serviced at this shop. After talking with the shop owner multiple times I asked him whats in the other building, why is it locked. He looked at me and said that's where MY toys are.I said lets see it.
Well we walked in,couldnt see much just like5-6 cars at the end of restoration project.
He pointed out a fiat 2000,nice blood orange colored one.
He said this here is almost finished and is going back to italy.I didnt see anything special about it until he popped the hood.
Well there it was the tiny 4 banger. How could this possibly deliver over 400 hp??
The explanation is simple, according to him. gasoline+liquid oxygen+nitrogen
Liquid oxygen was in the engine bay, nitrogen tank in the trunk, had a 5 speed radiator fan as engine bay temperatures can reach 600 F,all the wiring was replaced with airplane wiring,no color codes, just numbered white wires. The engine looked like it was twin plugged??They were running extremely high voltage tens of thousands.
He was telling me about engine, cant remember much.Wanted to take a couple of pictures, but obviously couldnt.
Ill try it next time.
I taught it was an interesting story to share.
Any feedback welcomed

The Fiat 2000 looks similar to the Fiat 124, right?

Strange to put that much power into a car that size. How does it get all the power to the ground? What kind of frame mod's would be required?

Interesting story.

er... yeah, sure bet 400 hp normally aspirated? Even with NoS, that 2 liter would grenade given enough of a shot to get close to that figure

The engine looked pretty wild.He told me about the internals, stainless steel pistons and crankshaft, some sort of steel head gasket...and god knows what else.
I try to take a picture next time im there. The guy sounded legit.

The Fiat 124 was rebadged as a Fiat 2000 when they switched to the 2 litre engine in 1979. They achieved the extra displacement by increasing the deck height of a 1.8L and installing a crank with more stroke. The combustion chambers were opened up, which increased flow but decreased compression. In general, 200hp is about the "reliable limit" on these engines - however they have been built and dyno tested at over 300hp for pure race applications.

400hp? I say no.
Even if the guy is running aftermarket parts, the mains won't take the loading.

And running LOX? Bull****. The head won't take the combustion temps that LOX would generate, and on top of that he would have to have some seriously over-engineered delivery and metering system. Maybe (and I mean maybe) he is using gaseous ox, but you still need a metering system. It's not like just sucking ambient air. And I still think that the head temps would be too high.

Run it by Guy Croft if you really want to be sure.

Personally, I think you got trolled.
He would have dumped tens of thousands of dollars into a $3000 Fiat.

He uses some sort of standalone computer system, with huge circuit coolers.Head temp can reach 600 fahrenheit, but it seemed to have proper cooling. He dumped 48k as is rite now,but the car is built for a customer in Italy.I will try to get more info on the car,I think its interesting.
Of course nothing is certain unless you have at least a Dyno sheet.
Im certain that he uses LOX and nitrogen. He even pointed out some sort of solution that keeps the LOX from freezing.
