Anyone want to sell me some Continental One Pass or Star Alliance miles?

LOL, One of my neighbors was short miles to maintain his status.

He spent a couple of weekends flying from TX to CA to FL and back to TX to catch up.

Yea I know people that have flown to Puerto Rico and back in the same day just to stay Elite.

Looks like the transfer fees make it a bad deal even if the miles were free. I'll call them tomorrow and see what else I can do. I just applied for their MasterCard, which gives 30k miles. But there's no way it will arrive in time to save this booking.

Thanks. I'll know more tomorrow after I've spoken with them to see if there's a way to expedite those 30k bonus miles for getting the MasterCard. In my experience, I usually get a credit card in the mail less than a week after applying for it. But I don't think they'll hold the booking that long for me. Even if you gave me 20k miles for free, it's still be $300 in transfer fees plus another $130 for taxes. So I'm still exploring other options.

Haha, yeah I'm probably guilty of that... this year will be tough so I'm flying CHS -> IAD -> SAT soon for about 1,000 miles over the usual CHS -> IAH -> SAT route. I'd have set up the return that way too, but I'm transporting a cat back with me.

Wow. Talk about the power of the Internet. After going round and round with Continental, trying to find a way to either use my miles to cover one way and pay cash for the other or buy miles or transfer from another credit card, they said no dice to everything. I put it out there on Facebook, asking if I could borrow 20k miles for a month or two. Less than an hour later a long lost fraternity brother, with whom I haven't spoken in 18 yrs., sends me a message that he can hook me up. I called Continental again and they said the way to do it with no transfer fees (normally $15 per 1000 miles) would be to have my friend just pick up my entire ticket with his miles and then I could do the same for him when he needs it in the future. Just got off the phone with my frat. bro. and he's covering the whole ticket. I pay $160 in taxes and get a RT flight to Frankfurt. Wow.
