Fair price for a H&K P7

I looked at 2 P7s today. 1 was in a store near Milwaukee and 1 at a gun show in Madison.

The Milwaukee gun was a 13 round clip capacity P7 in good shape. I didn't like it because the grip was way too big plus they were asking $1450.00 for it which I thought was way over the top.

The Madison gun was a 7 or 8 round (can't remember) and the grip was more slim. It was in good shape with almost no wear on the slide or anywhere else. It included the original case and manual. It was a private sale at $750 which I still thought was a little steep.

What is a good price on the 7-8 round P7?

Speedy

That's a fair price on the 13rd. P7M13's are kinda rare and popular. Price on the 7/8 is high end of fair.

$1450 is a STEAL for a HK P7 M13 in good shape with the tools and 2 or more magazines. That is hundreds less than they usually go for.

The P7's are all 8+1 capacity. There are two kinds, M8's, and P7's (also referred to as PSP's).

An M8 is about $1100 and up. A PSP style is $600-900 depending on the grade and finish and number of magazines that comes with it.

An M8 has ambi paddle releases in the usual "browning" spot. A PSP has a heel release. I've owned both, but sold my M8. My current custom P7 is a PSP.

They're not so cheap any more, the supply is drying up.

Now a Grade C "shooter" is going for $600+, and a Grade A piece for about $750-800. A really nice refinished hard chrome trade in can pull down a grand.

The pistols are all internally refurbished as needed, the Grade rating refers ONLY to the condition of the external finish.

Mine was a Grade B when i got it.

Right, but where are they?

You posted a link a while back after you bought yours. Where are they now?

HKPro.com has them in their HK pistols for sale section all the time.

I think the HKPro store sells them too.

Here's another pic of my P7 "PSP" at an earlier stage in life, before the rail:

The grips are Karl Nill handcarved european hardwood, they go for about $140.

Those Nill grips are sweet, I wish they weren't nearly twice that price for the P9S...

It's not really a S&D issue, more of a twice the wood and three times as much time to construct. P7 grips are slabs like a 1911, P9S is a wraparound and up.

Gotcha, i've handled many P9s and shot a few, but i've never really looked at the grip configuration that i can recall.

They look absolutely gorgeous with Nills though...

It does look awesome, I'll cave eventually. The grip is pretty complex and it shows when you take it off. Parts suck to get, but I love this damn thing.

The rail is cool but what's with that rear site? I'm thinking it's too big for carry duties.
