Wolfgangs Vault Now Has Videos!!!!
I don't know how many people here are familiar with Wolfgang's vault. If you're of roughly my generation, you possibly grew up listing to the King Biscuit Flower Hour every Sunday evening to listen to your favorite bands perform live. Some people prefer studio recordings for their perfection, I've always preferred live recordings because you could hear (and see) the performers actually play -- mistakes and ad-libs and all. The gritty emotion of a live performance trumps all.
But getting back on point... I never stopped to wonder what happened to all of those recordings. Well apparently someone (by the name of Wolfgang) bought up the collection and put them on a web site for all to enjoy. You can listen for free, or buy downloads. That's been great. But now they've got videos too! A whole slew of them of great bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's -- in their prime. Santana, Chicago, Peter Frampton, Lenard Skinnard, J. Geils, the list goes on. Like this recording of Santana in 1977 with one of his strongest bands. (Did he have any weak bands???) Or this recording of Peter Frampton that was shown on PBS last year... <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ni7ySQ9ot0I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Enjoy!!!! :D |
Wolfgang's Vault is an amazing site and terrific on Boxee! It's great to see these old concert videos and audio recordings of so many legendary bands!

I had forgotten all about the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Used to listen to it all the time way back when.
