So... Who hasn't slept in last few days?

With all that has happened in the last few days I haven't been able to get a decent nights sleep.
Always checking the news for the latest and feeling stressed about what's next.

I really feel things are looking better than they have in a long time but I can't help but worry about the future.
I know I shouldn't worry about stuff I can't control but it's just there and I can't do much about it right now.

Maybe we all need to take stock and count our blessings.

Really? I've been sleeping like a baby. I'm not happy with the state of the world, but I don't let it worry me too much. It would be way to easy to lose yourself in worry if you let it so I don't.

I'm mostly concerned with how much my retirement fund will really be worth when I retire in 6.

The Tsunami and Nuke problem in Japan is worth more stress than this dirt bag getting shot. I didn't lose a second of sleep over his death, the problem in Japan is still big.

Sleep like a baby. Don't have cable, don't watch BS "news" shows, or read newspapers. Get a brief overview of my news from Google and BBC. Focus on work, fishing in my lake, and not ****ing with my serenity.

Biggest concern is chasing the bears off of my lawn.

Been sleeping a little rough the last four nights, I'm in Prague and 9 time zones from where I live. I call my wife when I get up, she is going to sleep. I go to bed about the time she is having lunch.

What we "have" now is only temporary. Life and everything it brings are miraculous gifts - enjoy them while they are with us. They will be lost, as everything always comes to an end. We can't enjoy the gifts we are given when we are worrying about losing them. Cherish them while they are with us. Know that they will leave.

That's the condundrum of life. I have a saying...

Stay ignorant and bliss, or educated and angry?

Either way is a tough sale. Knowing what's happening in the world doesn't do most of us any good, and if ignored - I hate being ignorant and being that stereotypical American. But knowing what's going on domestically and internationally can just leave you angry with all the injustices happening in the world - and there's not a damn thing you or I can do about them.

Thanks. Words like this make a real difference because of the truth behind them.

Last semester? 2 weeks to wrap it up? Relax. Stay in as long as you can.

I'm really strung out from travel right now. I just move from airport terminal, to car, to hotel, to rental car, back to airport terminal, etc.. Didn't sleep at all last night because I had an early flight this morning. I'm back on the road for a long driving trip & turnaround tomorrow monring that will go through Saturday, and then back to the airport for another Sunday-Thursday work week. My entire Summer is going to be like this with vacation travel jammed in somehwere. Whooohooo.

Pete - you live on an Island (albeit a big one) in the middle of the South Pacific, where the nearest uglies would have to fly for 8 hours to reach you, with an National economy which is performing better than most of the rest of the world despite the WFC.

And Adelaide is a beautiful city - space to move and some of the worlds best wine growing districts just up the road.

YOUR future should be fine - worryin about everyone elses won't make any difference.

Tim
