squirrels

i live in a neighborhood that has lots of these pesky critters. there is a squirrel or squirrels...they all look the same to me and probably taste like chicken...that gnaw on my deck boards, the vinyl tubing on the top of the house that vents the septic system, the shutters, and now this...the battery terminals on an old battery i was going to carry to the recycling center. i know that lead is very poisonous to humans and i hope in this case that this is a lethal dose to the critter.. any thoughts on the possibilities thereof?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1304713035.jpg

Yeah, run a wire from the + terminal to just short of the - terminal and hope for the best.

do NOT use the lead eating squirrel in your jambalaya

I am trying to figure a way to keep them from eating the birdseed. I have yet to find a squirrel proof birdfeeder. Maybe I should spoon feed them.

Tobra 05-06-2011 12:37 PM

live trap and then either gas them with exhaust from a car or drown them, not that I would ever do anything like that

patssle 05-06-2011 12:42 PM

BB gun. I shot them and my last dog ate them. Unfortunately my new dog doesn't eat them, so I don't shoot them anymore.

These are the best that you can get IMO. They may get a little seed, but not much. And then only after lots of work.

i have a cage around my feeder. works 100%.

if i had more dough and i liked the birds better..i would get that YANKEE SPINNER feeder. i looks amazingly fun, throwing squirrels around.

for the battery, i wonder if the rodent was attracted to the acidic minerals? i like milts idea. put a copper pad around the negative..that is connect to hot. the rodent bites down, while standing on the pad..bzzzzt!

I think if you hang the bird feeder away from branches or structure on a heavy fishing line, they can't get to the seed. I'd like to see one that made it.

This funny, but there's some language. NSFW but not too bad. Lower the sound if one F word is a bad thing.

Out here in the country we just shoot them. My choice is 22 cal birdshot, others prefer 410 shotgun.

They are a very destructive varmint, they multiply like rats, O' they are rats with a fuzzy tail. Racoons are tame compared to a army of squirrels.

The good thing is that you help feed the vultures, hawks, coyotes cuz their bodies are always gone the next day.

Lin73... or anyone else... since squirrels are rodents, wouldn't they chow down on rat poison if you left it around in various places... even on your roof?

What about antifreeze/coolant? For those who say it's cruel or that neighborhood cats or dogs could drink it, I'm thinking it would be pretty easy to find places to put it that dogs and cats probably don't/can't go.

I wonder how the guy is doing with all the ticks and fleas he now has. Sorry, not a squirrel lover. I thought the video was going to have a better ending from seeing that frame of the video. Like he choked it to death with his hands. Man, that would be cold.

Rick V 05-07-2011 03:58 AM

I am lucky in the fact that where I live we don't have too many squirrels. Just enough to be entertained but not so many that the cats can't keep them in check. I like them but they can destroy too much too fast

targa911S 05-07-2011 05:01 AM

shoot, shovel, shut up.

In order to catch a varmint, you " have to think like an animal and whenever possible, to look like one. I gotta get inside this dude's pelt and crawl around for a few days." ~Carl Spackler
