Birthday Presents you have given your wife

I need help from the pelican brain trust. What have you given for the big ones? My wife's fiftieth is coming up in a month.

Mac,

What does She like? She has probably dropped a couple of subtle hints sometime in the past 6 months.
Think back to something she mentioned which seemed like a passing comment to which you paid little attention.

My wife learned decades ago that subtle does not work on me.

If you can't remember what she has asked for, think about her. What are her interests? What has she "always wanted to do, but put off because there were more important things to consider"?

You know her better than the rest of us (I hope).

Good luck.
Les

Mediterranean is very romantic. Caribbean is a party. Alaska is pretty but leave the negligee at home. Too damn cold.

A few years ago we flew to Puerto Rico and stayed in old San Juan for a few days before embarking on a cruise of the Caribbean. I highly recommend it.

Jewelry always works too.

This is a very timely thread as I have been pondering what to get my wife for her 30th birthday later this summer.

That's a fine looking little lady you have there. Congratulations.

I gave my ex wife a new watch for her 30th birthday (she was still my wife then). Nothing too fancy. It was a two tone Pierre Cardin.

Also you can't go wrong with flowers and a romantic card on the day.

Do yo live near the country? What about a weekend away at a romantic bed and breakfast?
With dinner the night you get there... I'm sure you could think of a nice place to visit.

Just spoil her and make her feel special.

For my wife's 40th - hawaii. Another great gift I have given is a photosafari. She likes photography and this got her away from the family interacting with folks with similar interests.

I prefer experiences to objects.

Good luck!

About 10 years ago, I brought my wife a cuckoo clock. It is a timeless gift. (Pun intended). She loves it - even to this day! Not too many people have such a clock, and whenever we have guests over, they are surprised when the clock goes off.

If you get a cuckoo - get one that is made in the Blackforest. Better yet - take her to Germany, drive down to Triberg and buy one there!

Lots of possibilities. I sent Laura, my wife of 29 years (this year) through racing school (at Laguna Seca) one year. And another year I bought her a diamond tennis bracelet. Lots of other jewelery as well. Can never go wrong with that, I've found. Killer vacations also work well. But that was then and this is now - economy sucks, so we're in conservation mode, big time.

I don't have much use for jewelry. Own some, but wear rarely. This year(July) my husband will be sending me to driving school. Trips are my thing. A trip and cars. Perfect.
