The question is...

Have the moderators lost control?

Or have they...

Lost their minds!?!

Maybe we need a new rule that anyone with 20,000 posts is instantly a Moderator...

I've had my share of run ins with moderators and in truth think they are doing a great job.

The problem with making anyone with 20K posts a moderator is that some of those people are the biggest offenders.

. . .and have been here a while.

But, no, that's not a great metric.

I am a mod on one of the other forums here, but wouldn't want that influence for PARF.

I like that people give me uninhibited counter arguments --even the really trollish lame retorts which scream "I've got nothing, so look at my painted clown-shoes..."

But you've never done that.....

Pelican OT is a form of entertainment, not a way of life (or lack of one). I think some people have a problem separating the two.

for some, OT is a form of communication. ...a bull session of current topics.

there are the lurkers, of course. ...too timid to post, read for entertainment and POV's

That's exactly right. As incredible as it seems, posting on a commercial car parts seller board really is a way of life for a handful of people here, and an incredibly all-consuming one (24/7/365, nonstop).

Those few people have a huge impact on the quality (lack of) the board, compared to how it used to be.

Then it becomes self fulfilling - as the "no lifers" here post more and more, the quality posters post less and less (or go away completely, as many have done).

The board still has some entertainment value, but it's nothing like it was in the past.

Aaahhh, the good old days! :)

For one thing they don't single anyone out. They don't even point in the direction of any one person. Just a lump sum stereotype

Prolly a better idea would be make a new rule that says you aren't allowed to post anything until you have passed a certain number, say 7500 posts?
Yeah, that's makes perfect sense. Huh?
