OK...but I see a Butler Creek magazine that I don't see on nodakspud home page.htm OR Butler's site....custom mod on the barrel? Who did it?

What does the top receiver do?

It's their creation. Receiver here: NoDak Spud NDS-22 receivers

I think the magazine is an older version of their current.

Here is my Ruger 10/22. I really like it. I have a S&W / M&P AR15-22 and the Ruger will out shoot it easily. I rarely shoot the S&W. I always take the Ruger

I bought one of the dirt cheapo Wal-Mart 10/22's (sans barrel band), because they only made that stock for the Wal-Mart ones and I really like it. The finish is an awful faux marine grey paint, which will be gone once I figure out how I want it refinished. I need to find a scope that will match the stainless-like finish I eventually want. But then I see some of these match-barrel 10/22's with the fancy stocks for not much more money and I think about selling mine for one of those.

Is it me, or does this mod look slightly rediculous?

Optisale.com matched Cabella's on line price for the Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 scope, beat the price on the steel hotlips 25 shot clips, speedloader....no tax and free shipping.

2-25 clips, the speedloader and scope, $189 delivered....the scope alone is advertised on some sites for as much as $189.....

So does anyone have any 10/22 stocks available for sale or trade?

Rusty Heap 05-23-2011 05:51 PM

for stocks, you asking for OEM wood, or folding / mil-spec style?

I've got my wood one with zero shots through it available.

Joe Bob 05-23-2011 05:56 PM

Don't really care....looking for someone's take offs. The model I have has the black polymer. Stainless barrel and a black Nikon ProStaff scope.

BTW, did you pick up any steel lips, yet? As I mentioned Optisales has the best price I could find.

ODDJOB UNO 05-23-2011 06:10 PM

why do you want a wood stock? you seem to want this to be a tack driver and i assure you as the sun comes up in the east every day, ANY synthetic drop in stock will OUTSHOOT a wood stock. any day,any place, anywhere. ask me how i know?

if yer really into making this a tack driver than do NOT buy a wood stock. why? because every time you see your humidity change, temp change that wood is expanding or contracting. and it then pushes against the barrel. no joke, no hillbilly wiz dumb...............reality.

so to make this a tack driver, you must buy a quality synthetic stock, and then BED IT! which in laymans terms means not one area of the barrel once leaving the receiver, TOUCHES THE BARREL!

yeah you can bed a wood stock, but why? when once again wood WILL SWELL when temp and humidity changes. ask me how i know???

i have shot them, built them, since i was in high school, and thats a damn long time now.

once again the ONLY way you will make it a tack driver:

1) synthetic stock-bedded

2) get a decent quality scope and rings(QD's are damn nice if ya munch the scope and need the irons as backup) if only YOU are going to use it. if others using it, well buy a cheapo.

3) a trigger job

4) a bull barrel

and by the way..................i used to call on ruger in prescott..................like ALOT! and machined ALOT of their parts. so i kinda know what the hell i am talking about.

and.............talk is cheap............accuracy isnt. ACCURACY SPEAKS!

Joe Bob 05-23-2011 07:13 PM

Thanks for the advice....I DO live in the high desert.

I've also ordered a Volquartsen Target Hammer,,,, the stock pull is a bit much.

Reminds me of taking a longhood and turning it into a 959 cabriolet...

for grins take a looky at blackhawks 10/22 stock. they understood the concept of barrel touching stock, and as you will notice it does not, from the receiver outwards.

another one to look at is the "chevy challenge" 10/22's. basically an "IROC" type competition or HIGH POWER SERVICE RIFLE MATCH. where all rifles are to the nats azz the same in components. no one has an advantage over another.

me? i use hogue drop in's and then bed.

its ALL HARMONICS and making the bullet leave the barrel on either a high or a low.

just picture an old skool oscilliscope and waves going up or down. that is exactly what is happening the pico second that bullets primer is fired. the bullet is bascically PORPOISING. ie. going up and down. you want it to come out the SAME each and every time. with barrel touching stock this aint gonna happen.

as i said before having ben avery shooting range(intl. competition) less than 15 minutes away, we get to see the UBEREST of EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET!

the match .22 guys have their own weather station/chrony/wind flag/and MIC every single match round(usually RWS brand). $1000 a shot at 100yds btwn the hot poo guys. scopes on these .22's as big as a coors can and about 16-18" long (UNERTL). you talk about OCD! its beyond OCD!

if ya do it right w/a quality leupold, volquartzen or tactical solutions barrel, trigger job, bedded stock..................they will easily pop ohio blue tip match heads off at 100yds with match ammo.

it all comes down to the shooter bobbing and weaving!

Joe Bob 06-02-2011 01:48 PM

Just got my Nikon scope......beautifully made and the optics are superior. Can't wait for the weather to clear so I can go zero it in and run some rounds threw it.

Lifetime warranty....matches the gun stock and compliments the s/s barrel.
