Good stuff

There's been plenty of bad stuff around lately. Maybe even for you. Intent is to "Look on the bright side of Life" (per Monty Python). Can be completely inane.

Example: I managed to get the lawn & weeding done yesterday evening while it was nice (today is windy and cloudy) and got zero mosquito bites instead of the usual 10+.

After a pinched nerve (mid back) last week, stomach flu on the weekend, and severe hip bursitis and nerve inflammation this week, I can actually eat, drink and walk today :D

After picking up my training ( ten miles run) after a week of illness, I thought my first run would suck. But it went very good, average speed was even higher than before.

I'm spending the day up in my attic putting down fiberglass insulation. Yesterday, Houston was hot (95°) and muggy (par for Houston), but last night a front came through and drove the temp down to 62° this morning and the humidity is way down, 24%. It's still 112° in my attic right now, but it's much, much better up there than it would have been yesterday. I'm currently on one of my many "hydrate and cool off" breaks.

Oh yeah, my attic is not one of those where it is easy to get around, stand up, etc. There's about 10 square feet where I can half stand, the other 880 sqft require me to sit or lay on my stomach. This job sucks, but I'm hoping it helps when the weather here gets really crappy (which is right around the corner).

Oh, and my current job allows me to work from home some, so I work from home Mondays and Fridays. I've gotta say, that's really fantastic. I'm also making more than I've ever made before.

I think I generally have a positive outlook. There's always something that can be viewed as a positive.

God idea.

I am enjoying the start of my vacation with a Newcastle on the back deck. I managed to mow the lawn, eradicate poison ivy and trim the hedges all before the rain today. Got a lot more done than expected.

Had a great time visiting my son in SoCal. On my way home. Kurt Vonnegut novel downloaded from Kindle. Life is good.

Getting ready to meander around Northern California for 2 weeks. Got a haircut, picked up a few good deals at REI on the clearance rack, going to put new strings on the campfire guitar and get the gear organized. Leaving bright and early Monday A.M. Life is good!

Pulled the steering rack on the 318is because it was leaking. As I pulled it, I found a loose banjo bolt. I rebuilt it anyway because it was 90% out. Now it's 75% back in but I had to leave to go to dinner with my wife and friends. That's good!

Consider more attic venting, mabye a spinner, if summers are too hot.

This was one of the longest, coldest, rainiest spring in recent Mich history. Thankfully it's been staying cool enough to do work outside though. Got inspired to clean out the corners and start fixing those little things that were pinching at the back of the brain.

nobody was available to work today. i asked everybody. i ended up doing the work myself..8 hours watching a 300 yard concrete pour. not fun.

but i got reacquainted with an operator. turns out he is an avid bowhunter. we sketched out tentative plans to hike into the trinity mountains for california mulies.. maybe made a new friend!

vash 05-14-2011 03:48 PM

Got the Carrera back from the body shop today. Only had to straighten the upper right corner of the tub (after my shunt with the pickup truck). I left the reassembly and paint for myself, 'cause that's what I like to do. I have paint dust on my hands as I type this. It was a good day.

Cool thread.

Today, I fixed the upstairs terlet that started leaking a bit last night, replaced the front brakes on the Suqinox for my wife, donated some clothes to The Salvation Army, and made a killer pizza for supper.

Tomorrow, I'll replace a couple of screens that have developed holes(I suspect the kiddies but have no proof;)).

It's been raining here pretty much all week and will tomorrow as well so outside activities are pretty much not a good idea.

The 911?

I cleaned it up last weekend so it's sitting patiently in the garage for the next nice day.

pulling off the heat exchangers of my 3.2 in prep for headers, no snapped studs, all nuts came off clean with only one stud backing out. all valves looked great.

custom oil cooler lines and fuel lines are underway, first of which to be delivered tomorrow.

Thor and dinner with friends was pretty good.

all in all a good day.

I got one of those $10 coupons from Pelican this morning, and I never even let it cool off.;)

Once again, thankful we got the tile in (& carpet out) the kitchen and casual dining area before the twin boys showed up at the scene....
