Ebay etiquette

Just had someone brand new to Ebay just use buy it now on my laptop. He just did it an hour ago.

How much time do I give him to pay before I relist?

(new 2011 Macbook Pro 13" is takin its place)

Unless you put an immediate payment required rider on the listing, you probably need to give him a good week or so. I just bought two items from the same guy and shipping is outrageous. I asked if he could combine and then noticed a blurb in hie eBay store that he combines shipping within seven days of listing end. So I can't pay him until he does that. PayPal won't let me adjust the amount.

A week to get paid on this? I'm selling this thing.

Hell with that. What about an invoice and within 48 hrs?

i worked for ebay in fraud investigations. really.

i'd give him/her at least a couple of days.

do you have any other particulars, like what state/country they bid from, etc.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
If you do PayPal, I think when they click "buy it now", they have to immediately pay with paypal. Not sure, though.

I had a buy buy a drum machine from me last week and the paypal was instant with the notification.

I had another guy who bought a keyboard 3 days ago and has been no-communicado so far, which is BS.

I send an invoice immediately after the auction ends and typically give the buyer three days to pay before notifying them that the item will be relisted. You can state your conditions in the message section of your invoice but to be fair you need to state your payment terms in the auction.

it looks OK- the guy is in CA and other than no immediate payment seems fine

It's only been a few hours, and if he's new to ebay then he probably hasn't set up his paypal yet.

I'm just wondering what is the customary procedure concerning a payment timeframe on a "Buy it Now"- usually I put a blurb in there about 24 hrs to pay or relist with bad feedback etc. etc but I just simply forgot on this one...

Didn't expect to sell that quickly, really.

for the record, i've taken a few days to pay for something. a few things came up, much more important than what i purchased (my son was born a couple of weeks early) and it simply slipped my mind. (along with clocking in and out at work, etc.)

Next time select the "Immediate Payment Required" box. Otherwise send the invoice and wait a few days.

No doubt. Lowest common denominator is what it should have been called. I got off and haven't used Escam for 4 years.

As someone that answers complaints, face to face....my first question is have you talked the them? When they respond, no that it's MY job, my help quotient goes down to near zero....

eBay and PayPal provides you with the contact information via a few keystrokes.

Based on YOUR posts on this site I find it interesting that you would not give them a WTF call.....what happended....lose yer huevos?

It's Ebay- I have to be nice- Ebay > PPOT

I'm on the hook for a $57 fee if this doesn't close so that fcks up my margin on this.

I replied to the kid- mail me a cashier's check from one of the big 3 bank- for the amount- reply and I'll give you the address or I'll give you till 5PM Thursday to find someone with a good paypal account to pay me.

I looked up the ebay rules and to get out of this deal I have to claim "non-payer" then ebay gives the buyer 4 days to pay and on the 5th day I can relist for free and no $57 selling fee.

It's either a little kid or a Nigerian setting me up for a fake cashier's check - this isn't the first time I've dealt with either trying to buy things.....

I had a non-paying bidder walk on a guitar I sold. He was from Korea, an eBay noob and didn't realize the import taxes he'd have to pay. The negative feedback meant nothing to him, as he had no or almost no feedback rating.

Did he get the guitar? Or had you not sent it yet.
