Winch wiring
Trying to wire in a switch. I have a 30 amp double momentary switch.
Two years ago I was able to figure this out, can't now.....brain is dead I guess. Anyone got a clue? The unit was left out in the weather and killed the old switch and the connectors broke in the move.... ![]() The thick cable lower left is a ground. Power goes to one or the other solenoid for forward and reverse.....

Those are solenoids, I'd say + goes to that centre nut (heavy gauge wire, direct from battery) between the two small nuts.
The black heavy cable is the ground. The two small nuts are the two in/out + light gauge wires for the switch. Most likely the switch has a power wire to it and the solenoids ground (triggering the solenoid) when you engage the toggle. The two outside nuts (in the pic), do they go into the motor? If they do I should be right.

Yea. What he said. Looks like +12V to one solenoid should be fwd. +12V to the other is reverse.

Figured it out, thanks for the help.....I did it right but I had a bad set of wires and connects. I was in a hurry and didn't think.
The winch works, I just need new infrastructure, so to speak.
