A little website help please...

I was talking on the phone with a buddy of mine last night and I had him pull up the website that I am working on and he stated that the main site was stacked on top of itself and that the black text was on the olive green black ground. Now he is on a older version of IE and on AOL dial up. I have checked it in Firefox4 and the IE prior to IE8 and see no problems.

I would appreciate it if you could just check it out and report back your findings and let me know what browser you are using. I don't have all of my mobile settings configured yet but if you have a iphone to check it out with it would also be appreciated. Thanks

It's bad in Safari.

What is it doing? All jumbled up?

stomachmonkey 05-18-2011 05:53 PM

Just looked at the source, you've got a lot going on there for what looks like it should have been a simple page.

It not pretty in Firefox 4.0.1 or IE 8 either...

Lots of open tags

I loaded it up here...

Website Overview for http://www.campingsportsman.com/

that page will only be good for another 30 minutes or so. You can reenter it if you miss this post. There are lots of sites that will render a url in different browsers for you and post the results.

it is stacked in FF 3.6 and ie 9

For those of you that had problems before can you check it to see if the problem has cleard. I shut off a plugin that I think was the problem. Browsershots.org won't let me re do it right now.

stomachmonkey 05-18-2011 06:49 PM

Much better.

Well now that I know what it's supposed to look like I can change my, "it looks bad" to "that's f'n terrible".

I've seen plenty of sites that looked like that intentionally, shudder.

You do really need to look at everything in multiple browsers.

Chit like that happens all the time.

Yeah I agree, I couldn't understand why my buddy's computer had the whole site stacked on top of itself like it did. And I didn't realize there was a website that would check all of the different browsers for you. I definitely learned something new today...

My backend guy is really good. He'll spend days tweaking stuff so it looks as identical as possible regardless of browser, platform, version, lunar cycle etc....

The level he gets to is only attainable if you live, eat and breath code.

When he brings a hatchet, candles and chickens into he office I know the problem is bad.

Good one!

Sounds like my son. He says there's only 10 kinds of people in this world.
Those who understand base two and those who don't.
