How do you import a car into Europe without the seller signatures.

Sold a car to a fella in Europe.
waiting to do the back and forth fax thing regarding all the nessesary paperwork ,bill of sale ,import documents etc when I get an email saying the car is in his shop. How did he get it cleared through customs? without my signatures or release of or on anything?

I've imported lots of cars from the US and it's a pretty tight procedure with photo ID needed etc.

Is it different for Europe?

I've imported a few myself (Jacksonville to Antwerp and Zeebrugge) and I must admit that the paperwork to get the car off the customs lot is (or at least was) a joke. Not much paperwork needed at all.

I'll make this short.

I have relatives in Europe all with diplomatic amunity.
They have a lot of friends who also have a lot of friends.
I was able to find out that the buyer forged all the documents, made up his own bill of sale and forged the names.
How much credibility does a person like that have?

My buyer told me to bring the car into his POE, all he needed was a bill of sale. Not notarized either. He shipped the car to Denmark and then I think he was intending to take it into Germany. He was a German, but like the POE in Denmark better.

He also told me that before he could get registration, the German TUV would go over the car thoroughly. No fiberglass bumpers and such. Change lights to Euro, tires had to match at least at each axle.

Balls: tons

Credibility: none

But provided you weren't defrauded then what do you care? The reality is he likely did it to avoid pointless delays and paperwork.

Having said that, I would never trust him. Get paid up front if you deal with him again.

I'm going to make a wild uneducated guess based on nothing other than conjecture.

Considering the relatively small size and close borders of Europe I imagine import of cars from other countries is fairly common.

Could be similar to buying an out of state car here.

May just not be that big a deal to them.
