Too many stairs in my house
 

Got a 300 lb refrigerator on a pallet sitting in the driveway. Getting it into the house means going up a couple curbs and four steep steps. Even strapped to a dolly, that's no fun. Plus, at 90" tall, it has to be laid down to get in the back door. I took some scrap plywood sheet and 2x4 and screwed together a ramp for the steps and another ramp for the curbs. Gonna try to muscle it in tonight, after rustling up a couple neighbors. I wish this house had a loading dock.

At that size, sounds like a Sub Zero. They are heavy. Pull the doors off the ref. It'll take some lbs off. Plus, it get through the door way a bit easier. No more dents on the casings. We also have an air sled. I can push the ref. with one finger. No more scratch floors because that can an expensive fix for us.

It's a True. I'm moving it in the packing - heavier but I might damage it less.

Use a piece of old carpet upside down to help slide it across hardwoods, tile, etc.

One of those hand carts with the belts on the back will help greatly going up the stairs, unless you can make a long enough ramp to ease it up.

you make it sound like you live in a 3rd story apartment.............sorry, no sympathy here.

We got it in with no problem. The ramps were 20 degrees which was manageable, but the fridge had to be leaned way over most of the way due to overhead limitations, it was heavy. No damage at all.

Down the road, I'll need to move in a 500-600 lb range, 48" wide, that will be fun. I'll probably rent a lifting cart.
