1971 Maserati Indy
I have been thinking about buying this car and now it appears to have 1 day and a few hours left. Does anyone have any experiences with these cars?? I would like a little feedback before I pull the trigger.

You have five awesome cars already, I'm sure this red thing will be right at home.

I had a 78 Merak SS, it was a pretty car but a dog compared to the 911 I owned at the time..
Easy to work on, hard to get parts...but they are good looking cars

Granted I know nothing about this particular model, but 35 grand for a 70's Maserati that is neither original nor in "near perfect" restored condition sounds a little high unless this has always been your dream car.... Just my two cents which is obviously only worth two cents.
If ya got the coin and ya love it, go or it.

I owned one in the late 1980's. ****ty build quality, ****ty electrics, expensive parts. Dumped it and tried to buy a Bora but that was just as the prices started escalating and the market got away from me. No desire to own another. It did sound good. A friend bought a Lamborghini Islero at the time I owned the Indy....now THAT was a car.... second only to the Muira!

We have a collection of 28 cars which is too many and I am not sure why I want this other than I have always liked them. I realize after having owned both a Merek SS and a Bora that these cars are finicky but when they are running good they really run good. Tim this is in line with what a decent Indy should cost I am not scared of the price at all. I am however trying to prepare myself for the inevitable maintenance cost of having this sit in our shop.

Great looking car.
Looks sorta like something I took a picture of the other day. Too bad all I had was my iphone and got rear end shots. Sounded great as well. ![]() ![]()

Because you asked... No, do not buy this car.
Too expensive for what it is (IMO) and old so lots will go wrong SOON. It would be an absolute fortune to rebuild the motor or gearbox.

Gold Hill is about 15 minutes from my house. Just thought I would, you know, offer the garage up in case you had to store it for a while.
![]() Good chance the owner is the same Gold Hill fellow who owns a Muira. angela

I know there is a big difference between $35,000 and $70,000 - (well, 2 times - gosh, math works
) - but save and spend the $70,000 on a Maserati Ghibli - well over 2x the car as the Indy.

If I were serious about a car like this, I'd be on a plane to Oregon to look at it in person, and to drive it. There's nowhere near enough information presented in the eBay ad to make any sort of inteliigent decision.

FoxPaws, we just sold a Ghibli 9 days ago and you are right they are great cars. It was in my custody for 6 years and I enjoyed owning and driving it. I am very hopeful it's new owner will treat it well and drive it often.
