is this a PayPal Scam

i was wondering if anyone knows how safe it is to do business through paypal?
i am tryin to sell someone one of my hovercrafts in texas but this last email seems shadey. everything was fine til this last email. what do you guys think?

Hello....Thanks for the peace of information about this Hovercraft I will be sending funds ASAP but before i make the payment, there is something i need you to be aware of,i just received an email from the shipping company that will be in charge of the pick up.They are saying i need to pay them their upfront fees which is $1,100 , $1000 is for the shipping company and the $100 is for the western union extra charges to send the $1000 to the shipper address before they proceed with coming for it and the only form of payment that they accept is Western Union Money Transfer.Where i am,the nearest union office is 16hrs from me right now and i could also send it online using their website, but they are not accepting any of my Credit cards.I don't know if it will be ok,if i include this agent's fees in the payment i will be sending you now,so on receipt of the total funds, you will remove the additional funds of $1,100 and help me send it at your local Western Union office which can be found at the post office or you could send it online at Money Transfer | Western Union .i will be need your email with paypal so Let me know if this is ok and i will proceed with the payment.

we are talking 5k for the craft i am not tryin to get duped here. now he is sayin he goin to send the money via paypal to me. but it seems fishy i have had hovercrafts brought to me from the east, some did ask for half down and some cod. can i get some input on this. thank you.

All classic pieces of a scam. Beware.

stomachmonkey 05-20-2011 09:04 AM

That has all the classic signs of a scam.

I'll send you more money than I owe you, send the difference.......

Western Union.......

16 hrs to a Western Union? You can drive thru a couple of states in 16 hours.

vonsmog 05-20-2011 09:06 AM

SCAM!! He has hacked into someone else's paypal account, he pays you , you send money by Western Union. Then once the real owner of the paypal account finds out they take the money sent to you back out and you are now out $1100. All shippers will take a credit card. Tell the guy you don't have any credit cards or paypal accounts as well and that the payment will have to be made by wire transfer. If its on the up and up once the money is in your back its yours!

Scam for sure. Western Union is pretty much always a red flag for these things.

Zeke 05-20-2011 10:36 AM

Dead on scam. As hard as these guys work at the 1000's of emails they must send, you would think they would take the time to learn English. Or whatever other languages they work in.

jimrs2000 05-20-2011 10:41 AM

The address is for an African Market, If I get chance I will go and check it out over the weekend.

dtw 05-20-2011 11:04 AM

At least they are learning. This time it is "the Craft" instead of "the item".

dad911 05-20-2011 11:18 AM

Tell him you have a friend in texas about 20 miles away..who will pick up cash. If he gives your friend the funds in cash, you will proceed.

See how fast he runs away.

Absolute scam.

azasadny 05-20-2011 02:35 PM

google says its a orthopedic shoe store

Danny_Ocean 05-20-2011 03:19 PM

It's a self-storage place. Many businesses are probably run from there or receive mail there:

Ambassador Business Park & Self Storage:‎
1702 S State Hwy 121 #121
Lewisville, TX 75067

Nonetheless, you won't find the scammer there. He is safely tucked away in his yurt in Nigeria or Ethiopia...

stomachmonkey 05-20-2011 03:38 PM

That's about 10 minutes up the road from me.
