Ironically he is the same honest person who posted in the parts section that he was interested in buying a cat bypass pipe for his nine eleven so he could ditch his catalytic converter and pollute the earth more. My reply was directed at him specifically and anyone else who lives in a fantasy world devoid of facts.

No, you just expressed a wish that this large ship sink and that you would extract enjoyment from that happening. SHAME ON THEM FOR TRYING TO BRING YOU AND ALL OF US CHEAP CLEAN ENERGY FUELS!

Would it be too much of a stretch to assume you would also celebrate the drowning of the hundred of so crewmembers?

On the contrary. It's not a wish. It's a fear of this exact scenario that is why it seems ridiculous to me. Why tempt a disaster that claims lives. If you seriously think I have any interest in celebrating the death of anyone you are quite mistaken and either interested in provoking me in some way or just not a rational thinker.

oh well, it was fun guys my guess is that this will be off to PARF soon. SmileWavy

Good point about the politics however my comment was based in the fact that historically the government does bail out disasters created by private companies such as BP when the cost exceeds the companies cash flow or interest in responsibility. This translates to you and me pay for it regardless of who you vote for. I had no intention to debate party perspective etc, etc, etc.

For example: if your neighbor was going to build a fireworks shed on the part of his property closest to yours would you defend his interest to the other neighbors whose houses burned down when his last shed exploded? that's politics

In other words politics and oil and gas are completely non separable. A high risk engineering project such as this does have direct impact on hundreds if not thousands of people if it fails. That's politics, you are correct. Although not the kind you seem to be referring to

The Objective Standard: Exploit the Earth or Die™

Exploit the Earth or die. It’s not a threat. It’s a fact. Either man takes the Earth’s raw materials—such as trees, petroleum, aluminum, and atoms—and transforms them into the requirements of his life, or he dies. To live, man must produce the goods on which his life depends; he must produce homes, automobiles, computers, electricity, and the like; he must seize nature and use it to his advantage. There is no escaping this fact. Even the allegedly “noble” savage must pick or perish. Indeed, even if a person produces nothing, insofar as he remains alive he indirectly exploits the Earth by parasitically surviving off the exploitative efforts of others.

The fact annoys some people

My friend, if you want to take, you have to give something back. It's called sustainability.

I have nothing against the big Shell Island, but whenever tech guys say something can never happen, I figure they haven't met Murphy yet.

But they will...
