Homelite portable generator...who makes the engine?

There's a used Homelite 2400 generator for sale in town at the right price. I'm thinking of going to pick it up, but are they complete trash? Who makes the engine? There's very little information out there.

I don't need anything bigger than this...it's just going to power a 1HP pump to water my garden from the pond.

Homelite, we used to call them Homeatnight cause you had to take them home at night to fix them, I'd be careful with that brand

I figured there might be something up with the brand. Thanks guys.

Just buy a little Honda gas powered pump. ;)

you need to feed the homelite hamsters every once and awhile and lube the wheel.

Too expensive. I can buy a 720GPM 1 HP (115VAC) Wayne pump for $140 and a used generator for a couple hundred bucks. Or run a couple of extension cords in a pinch.

The cheapest Honda pump set is $450 and only pumps 37 GPM.

i'll give you an example of (2) honda products:

1) original owner of a 1985 honda xr-350RF 14 years and 364 days of racing life on original engine complete. only maint was valve adj. and oil changed every 200 miles. went from 14000ft in colorado to baja below sea level. pounded the living snot out of it and STILL OWN IT!

2) 1990 2000 watt generator for my 26ft boat. sat on the poop deck to run a/c. every time i chopped throttle it got POOPED with water. i mean DRENCHED! SOAKED! not a splash..............completely UNDERWATER!

changed oil, ran av-gas, cleaned air filter. still own it and its now 2011. thats 21 years of deer/elk hunts, running around home etc.

starts on the 3rd pull every damn time!

ya gets whats ya pay for!
