An out-of-focus picture of two guys playing with their balls in a dark room?

sc_rufctr 05-24-2011 12:48 AM

svandamme 05-24-2011 04:09 AM

crustychief 05-24-2011 06:40 AM

A pool table with a ramp on it to make watching the game a little bit interesting?

An excellent combo of mini golf and pool. I can't say that I have never used my putter in a manner similar to holding a pool cue. ;)

Starving Korean orphan watches an American unwrap a hot dog. The American has the hot dog, pool cue, and all the balls. It's a metaphor for US-Korean relations.

A guy cleaning his balls with Uranus over his head.

A Chinese man watches impassively as an Anglo-American polishes his balls. A metaphor for US-China relations.

LOL! Sorry about the poor cell phone pic. Not many details can be seen...but the "hot dog" could very well be a bit of cash.

The "korean" is a Phillipino, Alex "the lion" Pagulayan...one of the world's best pool players. The American is SVB, Shane Van Boening, also one of the world's best. This was last night..in Vegas.

Each brought $20,000 to the table. They played 10 ball...first one to win 40 games took the "cheese".

A man who gambles on matches once said: "Never bet against SVB, unless he's playing a pinoy (phillipino). Then don't bet, just sit back & enjoy the show."

This pool junkie stayed up wayyy too late last night, reading posts on a billiards site made by those who were watching the action.

Shane was reported to have been in a slump because of recent tournament results. He doesn't use backers when playing money matches...the money bet is all his own. According to those who were there, he was a "beast"...winning the match, 40 games to 20.

Not bad for a night's work, eh? Ahhhh, but poor Alex worked all night and lost $20,000. Whether his or if he was backed, I dunno.

Here's a list of tourney money won so far in 2011. Some use this as a way to rank the world's players...I'm not so sure it's an accurate measuring stick. It definitely isn't as far as annual income goes. Money is made through endorsements, instructional DVD's & books, money matches, etc. How good do you have to be to make this list? Oh...about as good in pool as an F-1 driver is at what they do. Pool doesn't pay that much, so I'd tell a kid to stick to baseball. The odds of reaching the top are about the same.

Definitely...but you need a secret decoder ring...ha-ha!

Icemaster 05-24-2011 03:55 PM

it's called a "picture". Usually created with a "camera".

pwd72s 05-24-2011 04:14 PM

Sorry...just thought that some here might have found it interesting that pool is still be played with money riding on the outcome...it's done without the drama shown in the movies, however...Most people wouldn't know there was a money game going on if they walked into a scene like this...they'd just think it was a couple of guys playing a social game, kinda like two buddies playing a little 8 ball while sharing a pitcher or two.

Don't like watching, like golf, too boring, but I got to admire the skill.

One of my neighbors plays every year in Vegas in May. We have marathon, 8 hour sets. He beats me about 3 games to 1, but I am still learning and progressing. Ball in hand and I'm a goner. I play mostly defensive, which is extremely stressful. Fun times :)

A joke for your friend...an amateur player enters the US Open to gain in skill...as luck would have it, for his first opponent, he draws Efren Reyes, the great pinoy...a pool god. Not recognizing Efren, he chalks his cue and says: "I gotta warn ya, I'm an APA 5"....

APA is mainly a social amateur league. BCA is for the more serious players. But many league players belong to both. Me? I'm just a recreational banger...Happy to make a 5-6 balls run...& win a game once in a while.
