So, does it look like the suspension collapsed, or do you think it just high centered?

Joe Bob 05-24-2011 07:41 AM

Armored limo, high centered.....you would think they would have fixed the hump, been aware of it and took at an angle or exited another way. Bet some heads rolled on this faux paus....

slakjaw 05-24-2011 07:45 AM

lol. Need a push mate?

I have to agree. It sure looks like the front suspension collapsed.

That RR tire come off the ground.

crustychief 05-24-2011 08:15 AM

Do you think they are running airbags and something like the gate track breached a line under the car. Like the oil lines on the 911?

KevinP73 05-24-2011 08:17 AM

Watch closely and you can see the front suspension collapse. Compare the front ride height before and after and it's about a foot lower in the front. If it were a high center there would be less weight on the suspension and ride height would be increased.

It definitely high-centered. The BMW before it hit the ridge as well. There are other videos of the same event from different angles and they show it better.

That thing must have amazing armor underneath it. I saw a Lincoln collapse once in a parking lot, the owner tried to drive it home and tore the fuel lines and the oil pan out. There was fluid everywhere all over the driveway. This thing seems to be pretty un-phased with exception to the front air bags.

Harsh

very harsh :)

svandamme 05-24-2011 11:06 AM

that bmw in front already came close to belly scraping... so my guess, something snagged, and yanked the front end down with a clunk...

cgarr 05-24-2011 11:20 AM

I thought he had a KW HLS (Hydraulic Lift System) put on when he took over?

Here's another angle, with clear audio

Listen at 9 secs, then again at 16

looneybin 05-24-2011 02:28 PM

you would think the advance team would have run a test to make sure the limo could drive down the route.

kaisen 05-24-2011 02:36 PM

Yet another angle:

Almost looks like there were steel plates in the ramp that gave away when the front tires hit it? This thing weights a ton, well several tons!

Whatever the reason that is a major, major security foul up and somebody has probably been fired over it.

High-centering the POTUS? Consider the vulnerability. So much of any security playbook depends on having an evasion route present-- no matter how bad it gets I can imagine priority #1 is to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. Then the guys up front just casually open the doors? I would have brought in a boatload of cover before I opened up that thing.

Just my humble opinion as a paranoid New Yorker where you constantly have your head on a swivel.

Don't they have two of those beasts? Perhaps POTUS wasn't in the front limo(think shell game). I did notice the front passenger door started to open but then went back shut. Either way, why on earth would the driver get out in any case?
