I read about that this morning. I'm curious how "inflated" he got.

Well, I don't think that's where the air went...

pierced his buttock... I felt like it was going to explode from my foot... Doctors said the air had separated the fat from muscle in his body – he was lucky it had not entered his bloodstream....

I was blowing fiberglass dust off of me 35 years ago and passed over a scab on my forearm. The air went under my skin. I could move it up and down my arm, but it wasn't going to come out like popping a pimple.

I got a tetanus shot and the air went away in a day. Scared the crap out of me. For a few minutes I thought I was in deep trouble. Very careful with air now for 35 years.

McLovin 05-25-2011 03:36 PM

Forearm, eh?

UconnTim97 05-25-2011 03:43 PM

A couple of good deep knee bends will get rid of all the excess gas, as well as clear the room.

You can make all the fun you want. It can and does happen a lot. That's why they changed the design of air nozzles several years ago. I don't like them and still have the rubber tipped cone type. They will inject you at very close range.

Don't be silly about this. The dude may have problems for the rest of his life. Seriously. And, he's damn lucky to have survived.

The worst scenario involving compressed air and joking around involves shooting air towards the anus. Stupid shop tricks, I guess, but it's way too easy for the air to pass into the lower intestine. Google it, it's not as uncommon as you would think.

Might as well get out the BB gun and assume it will only sting.

You could put your eye out!

M.D. Holloway 05-25-2011 08:28 PM

Interesting way to inject drugs?

Well, I could have easily done that. When I was a young machinist apprentice in the 1980's, a coworker showed me a cool trick using a ball bearing and a air gun. He made a fist and put the bearing in the pocket
of his index finger. He then put the air gun in the bottom of his fist and slowly applied air to make the ball bearing float about 6 inches above his hand. Being a newby, I didn't have proper air gun discipline so when I tried it the ball bearing was too far down in my hand. I looked straight down at my hand as I applied a full blast of air and shot the ball bearing into my forehead. When I woke up on the floor, the damn guys were still laughing their asses off. I had a huge welt and earned the name "Cyclops". ThinkIng back now, it was pretty damn funny.
