Question Who has been to St Martin (SXM)?

Next month I'll be visiting St. Martin island with my wife. We will fly via Miami and will stay one week in a villa near Oyster Pond. We will be renting a car and also plan to take the ferry to St. Barth for a one day visit.

Has anyone been there? Any tips? Things to do and avoid?

Thanks!!!

Been a long time, but we stayed on the french side, at Grande Case.

As I recall we liked the beaches at Friar's bay, a hike over to Happy Bay, where the beach was secluded, and Pinel Island. But alot may have changed, this was 10+ years ago.

I spent a month on St. Barth one weekend.

I would like to live there in my next life.

Take lots of money and your Russian phrase-book.

The only problem with a ferry to St. Barth is St. Barth is VERY French island time.. The French island time tend to close for lunch. Island time lunch can start as early as 10:00 and last as late as the next day. Had a cheese burger and a soda on harbor and it only cost me $30.00.

Go watch the airplanes land on St. Barth also. I would love to fly into there, the wife refuses.

Most important. The island is beautiful!

St Martin. Go for the little bars, Palopa?, and listen to the stories of Island life. It's worth the price of admission for that alone.
