The next 'Black Audi wagon'?

I must be getting out of touch.

I was on an automotive review site and came across this Audi A7 four door hatchback.

North American transmission is an 8 speed ZF auto, rest of the world gets the DSG with only 7 ratios.

Question: Will North American buyers even look at this car? Will the hatchback put them off?

You can't accuse Audi of sitting on the fence these days.

I saw one last week and it has its angles. Not my cup of tea but in many angles much better looking than Porsche's fastback sedan.

Holding my place in line on a TT-RS !

Don't know about everyone else but I won't be interested in it because it's an Audi, the hatchback has nothing to do with it.
Performance of a VW, cost to drive of a Porsche (IMO of course, YMMV).

While out shopping for a replacement for our totaled 528 it wagon, I saw one through the window in our local exotic car dealers showroom window. Pretty cool looking car, but I would only own one that was still under warranty, I feel the same way as you Sammy.

Yeah. That would be a major disappointment.

"Power comes from Audi’s direct-injection supercharged 3.0-litre V6, making 310 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque in this application."

I guess the thing that brought me up short was the angularity of the design from some angles.

I saw a couple last week while in Milan. Big car, but svelte at the same time. Not my cup of tea, but a better effort than the Panamera.
Neither can hold a candle to the Aston in my opinion...

Seems big four-door hatch / cross-over types are all the rage now -- with the likes of the Mercedes CLS, the VW CC, BMW 5-series Grand Turismo, Honda Accord Cross-tour and Acura ZDX - this look is the new 'thing' to get.

But it's not my cup of tea.

Add X6 and the new Range Rover Evoque....... This is a European preference

I've seen one in person. Not big on the hatchbacks, but like others have said, definitely a better effort than the Pamamera.

I think Audi makes some of the best looking cars (inside and out). A5/S5 has beautiful lines. The R8 is sick. Then again I like VW as well. As for performance, 236 ft/lb of torque and 40+ mpg in the diesel works for me so far.

Nostatic, I agree. I think that the A5/S5 is the most beautiful non exotic coupe in production these days.

I think Audi just starts copying BMW styling. I see a lot of 6 series in that car. Same for their other new vehicles.

Leaves me very cold. May consider it after it depreciates 80% in 5 years.

I don't know about that. I mean, there is the Mustang...

I do like the looks of the Audi A5/S5, but there are other coupes that are far prettier. Consider the following:

- Porsche Cayman (Not an exotic)
- Honda Accord couple (They really did a nice job with the current version)
- Hyundai Gensis (Clearly NOT an exotic!)
- Chevy Corvette. (Some may consider this an exotic, but I don't think so -- plus it is priced lower than an S5!)
- Ford Mustang
- BMW 1 and 3 series
- Mercedes E-class
- Mercedes CLK
- Mercedes CL (my favorite coupe is the first gen CL - from the 2000's. But this car may be considered exotic or luxo-exotic.)

For a 4 door, this Audi looks pretty good.

Not that I'm a big fan of four doors...
