Typical French weapon, never been fired and only dropped when surrendering....

So French. Never meant to be fired. So over the top. So French.

I had the distinct pleasure in handling these "pistols" when Asprey held a traveling roadshow of Automatons in Los Angeles. It was in 1982 or 1983. The workmanship is superb and they have a very clever mechanism. France and Switzerland were the leading experts in these luxury "toys". This same expertise was also used in scientific models and tools of the time.

Objects such as these, like all great art objects, are priceless as far as human history is concerned. The survival is high in risk and the care-taking required is tremendous.

Absolutely beautiful.

I’ve seen people spend money on stupid things but this is not one of them. Better than Faberge eggs.
They are worth every penny of $5,800,000 IMO!
