Any suggestions for removing clear film from a car?
I bought a 2004 Golf TDI at the auction to sell on Ebay. It looks like the previous owner had some sort of roof rack. There are four 2"x6" strips of clear film on the roof. I can't begin to get them to peel off. Any suggestions?

Hair drier/heat gun for the sticker, followed by damp terrycloth towel to roll off the adhesive?

When I was a teen I worked as a clean up guy for a porsche/jaguar dealer. We used a chemical solvent called Take Off. It would easly wipe away any adhesive. If theres a dealer clean up supplier in your area I suggest you go to them to find this product. Ours in the mid west is a company called Car Bright. You could also use paint thiner but you will certainly strip all the wax from the roof and will probably need to buff the roof again to regain the the paints luster.

Goof Off may also work, just rewax the car after using it...

Another second on the hair dryer, or just let the car sit out in the sun this afternoon. A few hours at 102 temps should do it.

I've got some Prep-Solv that would remove the adhesive. The problem is getting the plastic film off. It's dry and just chips off in tiny pieces.

hair dryer...then a bunch of time smearing the solvent softened adhesive. I have used a rubber pinstripe removal type tool on a slowish speed drill, but you then have to buff the paint back out.

Thats what the hair dryer usually does, soften the plastic to the point where it does not chip when you remove it.
