Merc 380SL A/C Question

Anybody here knowledgeable about the SL series? I have a very low mileage, perfect condition 380SL that I am selling and the potential buyer is trying to negotiate a lower price based on the car supposedly having the original A/C system. I am confident that it has changed to the r134 new system (that is the new system, isn't it?) because it has been recharged with r134. I just don't have any paperwork documenting the change. Does anyone here know if you can physically tell in the engine compartment whether this had been done in the past?

Thanks!

Quick check are the fittings. Are there adapters on the existing fittings?

Here is an example of the types

The car wouldn't be worth more or less based on R12 or R134a. It's a non-issue. The buyer is just looking to pay less and thinks that's a way to be logical rather than just say, "I want to pay less because I want to pay less"

Agreed, and if this SL is anything like my wife's, the a/c blows so damn cold you could get icicles growing inside if left on too long.

Totally agree guys. I just want to negate his reasoning for low balling the asking price.

When you get a stupidly low offer just tell him you aren't going to argue what the car is worth. Period. Don't counter offer. He's being unreasonable. "This is my price, take it or leave it and make it quick or the price goes up for my time wasted."
