Depends.....
The correct answer depends on WHEN you ask the question. A 100 million years ago or so (give or take an eon) there was one supercontinent. Today there are 7 continents and a 100 million years or so in the future there might be only one or two again.
The thing that most should be aware of is that virtually all of the volcanoes are located along edges of the tectonic plates. So, when good ole mother earth gets a bellyache, that is where the pressure is let off. Where I live in south Georgia we are hundreds of miles from the nearest plate edge. At least we don't have to worry so much about volcanic eruptions or shark attacks! |
