Lost one yesterday

Warren, former Naval Aviator who was a mere 10 years my senior. Most congenial former fighter pilot I ever met. I liked him a lot, and they figured out they had best schedule adequate time for me to shoot the breeze with him whenever he came in. He missed his appointment on Thursday, had gone in the hospital for something, and the little voice in my head started barking a bit. He threw a pulmonary embolism and died yesterday. Had us all crying, really screwed with my wife's head. She is my overqualified nurse, and about the toughest chick I know. My sorry ass is crying as I type this. When Bill died last month it was not such a shocker, he was 100, not less than 60.

Warren, hope they give you clear blue sky and plenty of fuel for the afterburner.

Sorry for your loss.
Sounds like Warren was a great guy.

At my age I have a few of my peers that are getting sick and dropping off. It's sad as heqq and a tad scary as well. Sorry for you loss. My best friend in life died in his sleep a couple years ago. We grew up together.... I cried for a week...

I'm sorry for your loss. He might have had a short life. It sounds like he packed in some good time in it. He has done what the rest of us only daydreamed about!

Very sorry to hear but if you have anyone outside of your family crying when you die, you must have done something right.

Joe Bob 06-04-2011 09:28 AM

Bummer....at least he had fun and a friend to say....WTF.

Hugh R 06-04-2011 09:36 AM

10 years your senior is not that old. Sorry to hear.

That is sad news Tobra. Give your wife a hug and tell her how much you love her.
Condolences to you and the family.

Richard

Sorry to hear.
Sounds like the kind of MAN that deserves a SALUTE....
May your grief pass and your friends soul rest in peace.

That's rough. I would not know how to handle the situations you deal with every day. Hang in there.

There it is, my take-away...the end of days should be a celebration, which oddly, tears represent. My bet is Warren had no regrets and a wry smile.
