298 Miles of LA . . .
Wed – Mon in a new Hertz Impala. LAX to Sherman Oaks on the 405 Later to Universal City. Next morning, Sherman Oaks to Tustin via 405. Late afternoon Tustin to Universal City via 405, 110 Harbor Fwy, 101. That night, Universal City to Tustin via 138, Santa Ana Fwy 5 & 55. 4 days later, Tustin to LAX via 405.
The traffic sucked, of course, with 2 x 1 ½ hour drives & one hour for the Santa Ana run at night & another for the LAX run Monday morning (after 9AM). What is with that Pomona cutoff on 5? That is a mess. That must be really fun in rush hour. Any ways, LA drivers are actually very sedate. At times, almost wussy. Their are a whole lot of them, but surprisingly calm. Orange County was definitely worse. But nowhere near the aggression of Boston. Or Dallas. Or Toronto. And not as fast as Montreal or as comatose as I95 throughout Florida. I will bet you that it will be lots of fun when they close the 405 to bring down the Mulholland overpass in July . . . The weather wasn’t bad though even if the nights were cool . . . ![]() Ian PS Cars & Coffee was fun. That night I ended up as a passenger in a new Panamera @ 120 mph on the 405. Not my idea & nor my idea of fun btw.
