Backing up phone contact with Google?

I have a business phone (Blackberry Pearl) that has contacts we cannot afford to lose. I've heard that you can now sync to Google to back these up, is that true?

And if so, is it difficult to do?

FWIW, I don't have a USB cord for the phone anymore, so I can't download it via Blackberry desktop software.

Thanks in advance!

In pure $'s how much are your contacts worth?

If more than $5 I would suggest getting a USB cable and backin it up to a PC ASAP

Already tried that with the Iphone and ended up wiping out the contacts on that one...I now only have the Blackberry left and CANNOT screw it up this time...

When I got my Torch I set up Google mail and it automatically sync all my contacts, now they update each other, Google to BB and back. So yes it works and is easy.
