Kitten Adoption

Yeah, so I have this fellow in my apartment:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308165261.jpg

Last-night I was minding my own business, playing Portal (trying to get the Transmission Received achievement) and I hear this baby meowing coming from outside. I looked out the patio screen door and didn't see anything. The girlfriend comes into the living room and has the utmost worst pout in the world on her face. "Can you go find it?"

So 10PM we're outside looking through the bushes for this kitten. We find it with a collar but no tags. We start checking the surrounding apartments but no-one is missing a kitten. We start to approach one of the back-side apartments and a young girl, couldn't be more than 13 years old, comes out and says "Can you just keep it for tonight? My dad says if he finds it inside he's going to kill it. I'm going to take it back to the mall tomorrow."

So we say "Yes, BUT... If you don't come by to get it tomorrow we will find a home for it, because we can't keep it more than 1 night." Kid says "okay." So, no word from the roommate of the kid stopping by, yet. I have a friend who is very interested.

The kitten can't be more than 2 months old. It can eat solid food, I don't think it has been neutered and vaccination history is uncertain.

If the kid doesn't come by tonight, I'm making a ride out to Riverside to deliver 1 said kitten to my friend.

Kind of cute though, huh? :D

Adorable. kittens and puppies, I don't see how you couldn't love them.

mossguy 06-15-2011 11:50 AM

Why not keep it?

Brando 06-15-2011 11:57 AM

mossguy... roommate absolutely does not want cats and I'm starting to develop allergies. Sneezing, coughing, runny nose, red eyes... The whole gamut.

mossguy 06-15-2011 11:59 AM

Understood. One of life's tragedies IMHO is not being able to have cats.

if you were closer, i would have to chain my wife up. she would be there in a hot second.

Looks like my friend will not be able to take it afterall... Any takers? This is a petting kitty, not-for-eating kitty.

Cute...going to grow into a good looking cat. I hope you find a good home for it...

Tabby?

Must be a real dickhead father,

"My dad says if he finds it inside he's going to kill it."

Probably be more beneficial to put the father down!

Anyone in SoCal area know someone who can provide a good home for this little fella? Loves to play, vocal... Looks to be a generic mutt (tabby). Bluish green eyes, white with gray patches.

pwd72s 06-15-2011 06:53 PM

Please research area NO KILL shelters. You may have to pay, but worth saving a life. Let us know if you need a donation...

Didn't tabs recently have a cat die? Maybe he needs a replacement? Our two would eat this little guy for lunch, I'm afraid...

Kittens are cute and adorable but the one problem is they grow into cats.

Living out in the country we always deal with city folk dumping their cats and then they breed and make more adorable kittens which grow into PITA cats which then breed once again so on and so on.

Love your city cats and don't dump them in our backyard.

I hope you find a good home and remember to spay and neuter your animals.

Speedy:)

Well good news... A woman is coming by tomorrow evening (she's local) to check out the kitten and hopefully take it home. I posted an ad on Craigslist, the first question was "Is that a real picture of the cat? Because it has some weird text on the photo..."

Unfortunately all friends have cats of age already or cannot have one. No worries. As a backup there is a no-kill cat rescue near the Block in Orange I can take this little critter to.

Crossing my fingers, Brando...hope the little critter finds a good home.

Speedy's advice is sound as well...neuter your pets! As well as some relatives.

If it doesn't work out I might be game... I'm not exactly local to you anymore though. And my current two cats might have something to say about it, but they'd probably be okay with it.

He looks smart as a whip and like he's going to be a fun one...

Excuse me? You do not just have a cat, you are a caretaker for the critter for life. Our only purpose on this earth is to give them a warm, comfortable place to eat, crap and shed! :)

That said, they sure do make you smile!
